This is a critical moment

Hello, all --

For the first time since the 1990s, Congress might be on track to pass legislation aimed at reducing gun violence in the United States. And it's because folks in Washington are starting to understand that the rest of the country isn't going to sit by and let them ignore this issue. Your voices are the reason we have a chance to win this debate. The American people expect and demand a yes or no vote.

But this is a critical moment. It's been almost four months since the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, thousands more Americans have died at the hands of gun violence, and time is on the side of those who would prefer that we do nothing.

We want to make sure that your voices are impossible to ignore. So we're asking people from all over the country to speak out online in concert -- all at the same time. Will you join us?

Pledge to speak out about the need to reduce gun violence.

It's easy to participate. Over the next few days, anyone can sign up to tweet or share a message to Facebook. Through that time, we'll gather up as many people as we can. Then we'll make sure that all these individual messages get posted together in the same moment for maximum effect.

That wave of social media will get seen by millions and millions of people.

We're talking about common-sense reforms. Like the idea that any of us who want to buy a gun should have to go through a background check first -- which 90 percent of Americans support.

So let's make sure that there's absolutely no confusion about the public consensus.

Pledge to speak out with us, and then forward this email to your family and friends:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/now-is-the-time/action

Thanks!

David

"...In the past four months, thousands more Americans have died at the hands of gun violence..."

Thousands? Why not millions if you are going to lie?

The BEST part of this "poll" is that you can only answer if you want more punitive, useless gun laws. If you say you don't, you get disconnected. The perfect Liberal poll.

Our White House is in the worst imaginable hands. I hope and pray that our country will recover from the terrible mistakes of the 2008 and 2012 elections. The unfortunate fact though is that we will still have the same parasitic and fictional voters in 2016.

And most of those gun murders were committed with illegally-obtained guns, no background checks, no permits, etc.

How many Americans was Bill Ayers going to terminate in the name of revolution?

Thousands seems like a pretty good deal, by comparison.

Again, which brings up the question that every leftist needs to face when talking about gun control -

what do you intend to do that requires disarming the people first?

They are passing a gun bill on a statistically non-existent event. more people killed by lightning strikes than are by mass murderer shooters. real events the media doesn't cover are the 2.5 million home invasions per year in the USA , the 300,000 rapes of unarmed women etc.

yes practically anyone can grab a gun and start gunning people down in a government gun free zone( but not where people are armed because they will fire back). But practically no one does this as there are only hand-full of mass shooters and there are 330 million people in the U.S.A. people have always murdered and they don't need a gun to do it. but mass shooters is a fluke , a statistically non-existant event it is so rare that it really doesn't exist but the media and democrats make it seem like it is the only thing happening

The news media totally controls people's minds and the country

but even conservatives don't see this. that mass shooters are not really a threat ( it is so rare as to be statistically non-existant). the only thing we should say when the media brings this up to is to say this that it's a fluke that it's not representative of gun owners, that it is such a rare event that it is not worth talking about much less passing laws that restrict the freedom of all Americans and especially law abiding Americans. why don't people see this? send this to the stupid politicians and even the stupid conservative pundits that don't see how ridiculous this is. real events the media doesn't cover are the 2.5 million home invasions per year in the USA , the 300,000 rapes of unarmed women etc.

I had to call my Senator and also Toomey’s office to tell them to stick it. Sandy Hook was obviously a FEMA Drill Hoax- and they are selling out to the progressives, for the good parties. History is going to show that we were gaslighted- so the communists could grab our guns.

The aids pretended to be shocked.. I hope they all enjoy cocktails with Biden... and choke on them.

What is an "unlicensed transferee"? Firearm ownership in Idaho requires no license. Is the federal government adding a new infringement by imposing a FEDERAL license to own a firearm?

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Anyone person or government official who crosses this line will be held accountable w the appropriate response.

“pass legislation aimed at reducing gun violence”

LIAR!

There is NOTHING in the proposed legislation that would have the effect of reducing gun violence!

Really- how do you know it happened like the media told you it happened. Where is the proof?

If we are going to change the US Constitution, and tamper with our right to bear arms, on this one school shooting, would you not like some more info?

Or are you that easily led?

How do you know it didn't? And where is your proof?

I don't trust the media and this administration. But I believe I've reason to trust your reasoning powers even less...

So what are the odds on another mass shooting in the very near future??? Just to keep the heat on. You know, not wasting a good crisis and all.
