Graffiti force closure of Joshua Tree park sites
Fremont Tribune ^ | 1 hour ago

Posted on 04/13/2013 9:37:50 PM PDT by BenLurkin

Officials say the graffiti started with just a few markings, but quickly spread. They blame vandals who posted pictures of their handiwork on social media sites, which enticed others to the same spot and leave their own illicit marks.

Facebook is useless, but I do like Twitter. Lots of interesting stuff there if you are selective in whom you choose to follow.

I’m sorry that the truth hurts you True Believers.

That was one of his stupider statements, right up there with Religion of Peace.

Sorry. I’m used to seeing the ‘BDS’ whining whenever Dubya gets skewered with his own words and assumed that was what you meant.

Some maybe. But not all.

"Skunk,'' "oatmeal cookie" and "punx" are scribbled in black spray paint on giant, earth-crushing boulders where ancient petroglyphs may have been etched by the Serrano and Chemehuevi. http://articles.latimes.com/2013/apr/12/local/la-me-joshua-tree-graffiti-20130413

Every time I see graffiti and bars sprouting on the windows here in Orange County I think of Dubya and how much damage he encouraged with his illegal alien pandering.

We will get it on steroids if Rubio and the rest of the Treason Lobby get their amnesty.

Press release 2312.
Archeologists have discovered giant, earth-crushing boulders where ancient petroglyphs may have been etched by the Serrano, Chemehuevi, and
Oatmeal Cookie peoples.

I have seen petroglyphs that have been destroyed or damaged far from any known route that an illegal would take. There are simply people who do this kind of thing, even Americans. They are as bad as the Taliban.

I have seen this petroglyph, located in Utah, in person. You can notice a mark on the left side line of the large figure, around where his stomach is, between the spiral and the smaller figure on his right. This is a bullet hole, where someone used the 1000 year old petroglyph for target practice.

I agree with that. In the cities around here a vertical surface isn't safe. What I couldn't figure out was what “Family Values Don’t Stop at the Rio Grande” is supposed to mean....

I’ve been going to JT for decades; I’ll be there next month. I have noticed the crowds seem to have morphed over the years into the current crop of street thugs that is today’s youth. It’s sad.

Where did you get the idea that the vandalism had anything to do with immigrants of any sort? I didn’t see anything at all in the article that even hinted at it. Does this area have a history that I’m unaware of?

“What I couldn’t figure out was what “Family Values Don’t Stop at the Rio Grande” is supposed to mean.... “

That’s a quote from candidate GW Bush back in 1980.

And what it meant is that Dubya had no intention of defending the border or enforcing American immigration law if he was elected.

His oath of office was going to be a mere pro forma ritual and he wouldn’t be bound by it.

And that is exactly how he behaved. If you remembered the various hints in his speeches you weren’t surprised to find Dubya trying to reward foreign national lawbreakers with amnesty.

Try driving through southern California and pay attention to the walls. You’ll notice something as you get closer to the barrios.

You need to see the descanos and the miles and miles of RR tracks with gang signs.

But hey, if it wasn’t in the article then it didn’t happen.

As for history of the area......ever hear of the Charles Manson gang....jeez.

Don’t get defensive. Get educated.

The Religion of Peace statement was purely political. What was Dubya going to do? Call it the religion of pieces and then proceed to invade Afghanistan and then Iraq? If you really believe that Dubya meant what he said when he said Religion of Peace then you are quite naive.

What is tragic is that the patina on many of those boulders takes centuries to millennia of atmospheric corrosion to produce. When they clean off the graffiti, they also remove the patina. The rocks never look the same again,....at least not for another 1000 years or so.

While we see some of that in northern CA (south SF bay), it’s a mix. Thanks for the information. I didn’t realize that things had gotten quite that bad down there. I left Imperial Beach in the 70’s and haven’t been back since.

Those who deface petroglyphs are the same type of people who would shoot birds and small animals with pellet guns-—morons.

People who used to live in SoCal but haven’t been here in a few years are shocked at the change.

The danger is that this will spread to the rest of the country. The 1986 Amnesty is what did in SoCal. When the Obama-Rubio amnesty passes it will do the same to a larger portion of the country.

I like the idea of crossbow bolts impaling these punks to their work while the ravens chow down on their remains, but the bolts probably wouldn’t stick to granite.
