This will make you sick if you think you need something “valuable” in your home in order for a home invasion to occur.
4 young (Amish) thugs, all under 18, targeted a women who had just purchased a 48 in. TV with her tax return. They saw the TV in an open window in her home from the sidewalk. At 1am they knocked on her front door and asked if there was a “n-——” in the house. She said “no” and that’s when they broke down her front door, shot her in the head and stole the TV and a laptop.
Asked why they did it, one of the thugs said “I wanted it” meaning he saw something he wanted, the TV, and did it the way thugs do.
Most home invasions are narcotics related drug rips where the crooks believe the residents have a large stash of drugs/money or the homeowner ripped off the crooks in a drug deal and they are trying to retrieve their drugs/money. Home invasion crews also have a huge error rate on getting the wrong home so I am glad I don’t live near a drug dealer! I am aware of one interview where a drug dealer said he parked in front of his neighbors house (older single lady) so a “crew” looking to rip him would get the wrong house (never do business at your house). Shrewd tactical decision - very poor moral decision. These guys think like this because drug rips are far more common (most unreported) than you would believe.
With that said, I have noted more stories about “stranger” home invasions in the last few years although many of these are associated with other criminal acts and are typically committed in desperation by the crook(s).
A major concern about home invasions for me is the imprinting in the minds of crooks that this is a viable way to get things. If our economic situation gets much worse this will become a more common way for crooks to get stuff such as food or items to barter for food or vice.
I am thankful I don’t live in a poor neighborhood. Post-Katrina there were groups running around kicking in doors looking for food, booze, pills, and/or other valuables. The police eventually secured what was left on Main Street and for a time they rarely ventured onto the side-streets. I imagine quite a few homes looked empty that were occupied. We would see a repeat of this when the grocery store shelves were empty and half a city has fled for one event or another. I bet some of the bodies with bullet holes that were recovered floating around New Orleans were folks that entered a home they believed to be empty.
Will be interesting to hear the rest of the story. Four crooks sounds like a crew looking for something specific. Most criminals know this is a very high risk crime because sentences are very stiff for a home invasion and/or many homeowners are armed so it’s rarely a random crime. The two on the run will be charged with murder.
The only answer to feral gangs is to arm yourself and move as far away as you can get. We had one when I was a young patrolman where two crackheads beat an elderly woman to death for $20.00 to get a 5 minute high. That was many years ago, but it’s still repeated today.
Sickening. These crimes are largely the result of progressives utopian schemes for a welfare state. It is evil. Endless welfare never works and contributes to a moral collapse among the recipients.
Thugs and Obama have the same mindset. What you own, or they think you own, is actually their’s to re-claim possession. They think that all that they covet shall be their’s, and should the ‘temporary owner’ (that means YOU and ME) get in the way, oh well.
Both thugs are willing to use violence to achieve their goals.
Dear STD,
WHAT IN MY ORIGINAL POSTING MENTIONED -—A VEST-— ANYHOW??
Have you had your evening dose of liquid lucidity, yet?
Again, here is what I posted.
Folks, see if you can find the word ‘vest’ in it?
“Well, that is two less to worry about at someone elses house.
The other two just might have got religion, and seen its time to either reform, or retire.
Two hours to die after getting shot????
That couldnt happen from any of those big name super-duper hollow points that now cost two dollars a cartridge, could it?
Heres what I suggest, a couple of these per customer:

Worked for Jim Cirillo in the Big Apple in his time, so, why not?”
Thanks
Wadcutters are NOT specially made! Neither are semi-wadcutters, and I do NOT mean what some folks call “the FBI load”. Wadcutters are nothing more than ‘lead soda cans’.
Elmer Keith, if you’d not heard of him, look him up. All he ever shot were semi-wadcutters.
I eschew using major manufacturers’ hollowpoints, or remnufactured HP loads, as well. All the YouTube videos demonstrate that hollowpoint bullets, when they fail, become wadcutters, so why buy expensive bullets that will fail, and just use wadcutters. Federal, Remington, Winchester all make them as standard ammuntion.
I choose to NOT use a semi-automatic magazine-dependent, engineered for FTE, FTF action pistol. I have no use for ‘plus-p’ stuff. I’d rather shoot six well, than anything more than 8 not so well. (It drives BABS nuts, doncha know!)
Nothing, just imagine the next group of guys likely to break down your doors at 3AM? They will most likely present themselves wearing body armor. This being an outlaw patriot website and all.
Not likely he got these creeps before they procreated.
So true. I have a liberal old buddy who has a 20ga coach gun and a single action revolver in .44 mag and he thinks he’s a big gun rights gun nut. He insists the way he’s armed should be enough for me and that I should get rid of any AR15 machine guns and high capacity clips at the demand of those grieving for the children at Sandy Hook. A self described gun expert with only the MSM’s talking points and vernacular.
Of course, my refusal (as if I owned any of those EVIL things) caused him to label me “insane”.
I’ve been told that wadcutters make an excellent home defense round out of a .38.
>> “ I have no use for plus-p stuff” <<
.
Ditto!
Could damage your gun (or worse if the chamber fails).
Really?
The way it ws explained to me is that a hollow point stops in the perp and doesn't go on through a wall or another person. A lead "wad cutter will travel through, correct?
Pardon me for being such a newbie when it comes to ammunition, carrying concealed ( just got my permit last Thursday-Yea Me!) and shooting. I am learning more and more every day.
I had to look "wad cutter" up on Bing because I didn't know what it was. I just assumed that it might be what we were so vehemently warned against in our CWP course.
I certainly know what it is now and it is what I use at the range in my Bersa .380 and my Ruger LCR .357. I have hollow points loaded for the rest of the time.
Really. He went on to try to explain the terminal ballistics of the 5.56x45 round and how it was the capability of the Bushmaster rifle that allowed the perp to do so much damage. You know, all the talking points the MSM had invented for when stories like this come up to forward their agenda to disarm the public. Even the “nobody is trying to disarm you” line. It was almost surreal how he went on and on. All this while telling me that he and I were not that far apart on the issue. All I had to do is compromise. A move that, of course, was not needed of those that held his position.
Yes, I agree. Unless, you’re house is being assualted by a SWAT team.
