The federal Liberals officially named Justin Trudeau their new leader Sunday. He won the support of about 80 per cent of Liberals who voted.

Trudeau, 41, secured an overwhelming first-ballot victory, 45 years to the month after his father took the same position.

Many more commercials like this will be produced.

The libs on the chat lines are getting really bent over the first ad. How dare Harper attack their shining pony!

They haven’t figured it out yet. That ad is just the beginning.

I know, it will be great.

They have so much audio and video on this kid. Looking at their last 3 "leaders" I think the liberals must have a death wish.

As long as the most significant voting block in Canada continues to be women of my Mother’s generation, who still brew a fondue in their panties at the very MENTION of the word “Trudeau”, Justin is well on his way to his next coronation.

It seems we have the same problem that they have in the U.S. Low information voters. As long as a significant portion of voters think he's so "young and handsome", it's a hard sell to educate them or dissuade them from voting with their hearts and not their heads. No offense intended towards your Mom.

Are you calling Harper a socialist? Interesting.

Remember, Trudeau the Younger has been made the leader of a political party, not of a country. IMHO, this is actually good news. With Just-a-Turd at the helm, that will guarantee the Libs will remain in the wilderness for some time to come. They haven’t exactly had good luck with many of their recent anointments.

I whole heartedly agree with you. That’s why I treat this as good news.

No......I moved to the US from Canada. I am now seeing socialism take over the USA with Obama, as it did with Trudeau in Canada.
Harper is NOT a socialist.

I think this is very good for conservatives.

The liberals have appointed a young man full of himself who has done nothing but flit about the country on a cushion of (so called) charisma and name recognition. There is a vast library of audio and video clips of really stupid things that he has said. These will be trotted out, and in fact already are: http://www.justinoverhishead.ca/

They will use the same strategy they used against Iggy, introduce him to the voters in his own words.

I become briefly obsessed with Canadian politics when they have an election but I hadn’t been following this. The “Grits” as they are known as had been such bad shape that they waited this long to elect a new leader.

Last I had heard, Jr. Trudeau had passed on a run. He reconsidered. Looking over his list of opponents it’s not surprising he took it by such a wide margin.

His coronation has given them a big honeymoon poll bounce, they lead in the most recent ones.

I guess he is like their JFK JR. MEGA BARF. A party that stands for nothing needs a personality.

The next election will probably be in Oct 2015.
