Nicolas Maduro Wins Venezuela Presidential Election (50.7%): Opposition Gets 49.1%

Socialist candidate Nicolas Maduro has won a narrow victory in Venezuela's presidential poll.

Mr Maduro, who was chosen by the late Hugo Chavez, won 50.7% of the vote against 49.1% for opposition candidate Henrique Capriles.

The electoral commission said the results were "irreversible".

There has been no comment from Mr Capriles, who earlier on Sunday has suggested there was an attempt to doctor the result.

Mr Maduro told a rally of supporters in the capital Caracas that he had won a "just, legal and constitutional" victory.

However, the margin of victory was far smaller than that gained by the late President Chavez over Mr Capriles at elections last October.

Jimmy Carter isn’t going to go down there to monitor elections. That might show how corrupt the voting machine is.

From Fox News:

“Maduro, the 50-year-old longtime foreign minister to Chavez, pinned his hopes on the immense loyalty for his boss among millions of poor beneficiaries of government largesse and the powerful state apparatus that Chavez skillfully consolidated.”

The Communists always finds a way to turn its people into indentured servants.

That joint sounds just like this joint.

From Al-Reuters (link on Drudge):

“Chavez’s death, at 58, had cemented his already cult-like status among supporters, who adored his down-to-earth style, humble beginnings, aggressive “anti-imperialist” rhetoric, and channeling of oil revenue into social welfare projects.”

Ain’t socialism GREAT?

The Venezuelan poor are so poor it does not take much to buy their allegiance. The Chevez government gave massive handouts through the so-called Misiones. This included free food to subsidies for home improvements. Maduro promised to continue the Misiones which, in effect, bought the election with an empty promise in my opinion.

Non-communist, opposition candidate Capriles is going to challenge it. (and who can blame him?) With the country split right down he middle, you can count on violence now in VENEZUELA. The REGIME STOLE THIS ONE FAIR AND SQUARE. I am sure it was more like 55 to 60% AGAINST MADURO and the Chavista Communists. Boy is there going to be hell to pay in the streets now. Nothing like talking to all your neighbors and hearing they all voted for Capriles, then going to the local elections boards and showing an overwhelming "vote" for Red Bastard Maduro, the Ghost of Chavez instead in that precinct. These irregularities doubltless will be multiplied EVERYWHERE in Venezuela. Just like Chicago, Philadelphia, D.C., Orange County, LA and everywhere else in the USA.

It seems they have a split country too. Our country is pretty much split down the middle too. I guess it must be everywhere. Well Good Luck Venezuela after having the worst person on Earth as your President, maybe this guy will be 100 percent better!
