Chris Matthews: 'Normally' Domestic Terrorists 'Tend to Be on the Far Right'
NewsBusters.org ^ | April 15, 2013 | Scott Whitlock

Posted on 04/15/2013 5:49:00 PM PDT by Kaslin

Just hours after explosions rocked the Boston Marathon on Monday, Chris Matthews speculated, "Normally domestic terrorists, people, tend to be on the far right." He then reconsidered and suggested, "...That’s not a good category, just extremists, let’s call them that." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

During live coverage, the Hardball host highlighted a possible explosion at John F. Kennedy's presidential library and thought this could be a personal attack on the Democratic Party: "...But going after the Kennedy Library, not something at Bunker Hill, not something from the Freedom Trail or anything that kind of historic, but a modern political figure of the Democratic Party. Does that tell you something?" (Police are now considering the incident at the JFK library to be fire-related.) One can only guess what it tells Chris.

Chris Matthews: 'Normally' Domestic Terrorists 'Tend to Be on the Right'

Has Matthews not heard of left-wing domestic terrorists such as William Ayers or the Weather Underground?

[Thanks to the MRC's Jeff Meyer for assistance with the video and transcript.]

A transcript of the April 15 segment is below:

5:17pm ET

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Let me ask you about domestic terrorism as a category. Normally, domestic terrorists, people tend to be on the far right, well that’s not a good category, just extremists, let’s call them that. Do they advertise after they do something like this? Do they try to get credit as a group or do they just hate America so much or its politics or its government that they just want to do the damage, they don't care if they get public credit, if you will?

MICHAEL LEITER: What we'll see over the coming couple hours and days is lots of people taking credit for this. We'll probably have al-Qaeda take credit for it. We'll have domestic terrorists take credit for it. And it will be the responsibility of the FBI and the Boston police to figure out if any of those are actually real cases like Timothy McVeigh destroying the Oklahoma City courthouse federal building; no one took credit for that. So it might be some time or never that someone actually takes credit for this. Lots of people will say they were responsible for it.

MATTHEWS: I was just thinking, again, it's early; it's an early situation, but going after the Kennedy Library, not something at Bunker Hill, not something from the freedom trail or anything that kind of historic, but a modern political figure of the Democratic Party. Does that tell you anything?

Where did he come up with that? Ted Kazinsky, the Unabomber, was right wing? The guy who crashed the plane into the tax service building? Timothy McVeigh wasn’t right wing no matter hard they try to make him out to be.

Trying to think of a recent right wing terrorist. Maybe Eric Robert Rudolf?

The Kennedy angle is an interesting one.

To a foreign born agent who has observed the Kennedy mystique in this country, it may have seemed a natural fit to strike at an iconic American hero.

I expect the Senate to take up legislation to have all non-democrat white people to register with the state so that it will be easier for the Holder Just-Us Dept to monitor these extreme people.

Obama's DHS Report illustrates that 16% of nuts are on the right and 84% are on the left. 5.25x's more likley than any other group to commit violence.

According to the Obama Departmnet of Homeland Security:

Ayers and Bernardine are the left’s best bomb experts from the old days.

Here’s what they and their buddies did:

“Ayers is now mainstream…” – Barack Obama, 2001

“Ayers is now a respected member of the Chicago intelligentsia…” – Barack Obama, 2008

7 October 1969 – Bombing of Haymarket Police Statue in Chicago, apparently as a “kickoff” for the “Days of Rage” riots in the city October 8-11, 1969. The Weathermen later claimed credit for the bombing in their book, “Prairie Fire.”

8-11 October 1969 – The “Days of Rage” riots occur in Chicago in which 287 Weatherman members from throughout the country were arrested and a large amount of property damage was done.

6 December 1969 – Bombing of several Chicago Police cars parked in a precinct parking lot at 3600 North Halsted Street, Chicago. The WUO stated in their book “Prairie Fire” that they had did the explosion.

27-31 December 1969 – Weathermen hold a “War Council” meeting in Flint, MI, where they finalize their plans to submerge into an underground status from which they plan to commit strategic acts of sabotage against the government. Thereafter they are called the “Weather Underground Organization” (WUO).

13 February 1970 - Bombing of several police vehicles of the Berkeley, California, Police Department.

16 February 1970 – Bombing of Golden Gate Park branch of the San Francisco Police Department, killing one officer and injuring a number of other policemen.

6 March 1970 – Bombing in the 13th Police District of the Detroit, Michigan. 34 sticks of dynamite are discovered. During February and early March, 1970, members of the WUO, led by Bill Ayers, are reported to be in Detroit, during that period, for the purpose of bombing a police facility.

6 March 1970 – “bomb factory” located in New York’s Greenwich Village accidentally explodes. WUO members die, including Ayers’ girlfriend, Diana Oughton. The bomb was intended to be planted at a non-commissioned officer’s dance at Fort Dix, New Jersey. The bomb was packed with nails TO INFILICT MAXIMUM CASUALTIES UPON DETONATION.

30 March 1970 – Chicago Police discover a WUO “bomb factory” on Chicago’s north side. A subsequent discovery of a WUO “weapons cache” in a south side Chicago apartment several days later ends WUO activity in the city.

10 May 1970 – Bombing of The National Guard Association building in Washington, D.C..

21 May 1970 – The WUO under Bernardine Dohrn’s (Ayers’ current wife) name releases its “Declaration of a State of War” communique.

6 June 1970 – The WUO sends a letter claiming credit for bombing of the San Francisco Hall of Justice; however, no explosion actually took place. Months later, workmen in this building located an unexploded device which had apparently been dormant for some time.

9 June 1970 - Bombing of The New York City Police Headquarters.

27 July 1970 - Bombing of The Presidio army base in San Francisco. [NYT, 7/27/70]

12 September 1970 – The WUO helps Dr. Timothy Leary, break out and escape from the California Men’s Colony prison.

8 October 1970 - Bombing of Marin County courthouse. [NYT, 8/10/70]

10 October 1970 - Bombing of Queens traffic-court building . [NYT, 10/10/70, p. 12]

14 October 1970 - Bombing of The Harvard Center for International Affairs [NYT, 10/14/70, p. 30]

1 March 1971 - Bombing of The United States Capitol . “ [NYT, 3/2/71]

April, 1971 – abandoned WUO “bomb factory” discovered in San Francisco, California.

29 August, 1971 - Bombing of the Office of California Prisons . [LAT, 8/29/71]

17 September 1971 - Bombing of The New York Department of Corrections in Albany, NY [NYT, 9/18/71]

15 October 1971 - Bombing of William Bundy’s office in the MIT research center. [NYT, 10/16/71]

19 May 1972 - Bombing of The Pentagon . [NYT, 5/19/72]

18 May 1973 - Bombing of the 103rd Police Precinct in New York

28 September 1973 - Bombing of ITT headquarters in New York and Rome, Italy . [NYT, 9/28/73]

6 March 1974 - Bombing of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare offices in San Francisco

31 May 1974 - Bombing of The Office of the California Attorney General.

17 June 1974 - Bombing of Gulf Oil’s Pittsburgh headquarters.

11 September 1974 – Bombing of Anaconda Corporation (part of the Rockefeller Corporation).

29 January 1975 - Bombing of the State Department in (AP. “State Department Rattled by Blast,” The Daily Times-News, January 29 1975, p.1)

16 June 1975 - Bombing of Banco de Ponce (a Puerto Rican bank) in New York.

September, 1975 – Bombing of the Kennecott Corporation.

October 20, 1981 - Brinks robbery in which several members of the Weather Underground stole over $1 million from a Brinks armored car near Nyack, New York. The robbers murdered 2 police officers and 1 Brinks guard. Several others were wounded.

1981 “Guilty as hell. Free as a bird. America is a great country,” Ayers said when interviewed by David Horowitz.

September 11, 2001 “I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.” Ayers is quoted in a New York Times article.

Eric Rudolph and Tim McVeigh may have held some right wing ideological beliefs, but the vast majority of conservatives disavows their actions and considers them as isolated lone nutjobs.

Contrary to Chrissy's claim, the far left has perpetrated far more acts of domestic terrorism.
Moreover, the far left embraces their terrorists, as Obama embraces Bill Ayers.

Plain and simple, MSNBC is an insane asylum run by the inmates.

To: Kaslin; All
Patriots will be pushed into a conflict with government and media tyrants, but to what degree I don't know. It's already too late for anything else. That's exactly what they want, and they will get it at some point. The system is broken, and we aren't going to win within it. That doesn't mean we will win outside of it either. We may not even put up any real fight, other than sporadic cases where Patriots resist confiscation and are murdered.

Most of us will see this change in our lifetime. We will witness a rapidly expanding tyranny that either achieves it's goal, or is resisted by enough people to stop it. They will more than likely stop new supplies becoming available as a way to disarm us, while we sit in our homes threatening to vote them out using a broken system that no longer acts according to the Constitution, and will only get worse.

Many will make excuses for why they will never risk anything. They will have an excuse to not fulfill their duty to fight tyranny, even if there is an effective avenue available to do so. If the things we need to arm ourselves are slowly taken away we will all lose. Even if you are allowed to keep your stockpiles they will be taken after your death. Many will still exist inside the country for a long time, but the fight will already be lost if there is never enough support to resist. We have to keep those supply lines open and available for future generations, or they will not have this right.

We also have to survive the media lies and slander, and remember they are one of our most powerful enemies. For now, in my opinion anyway, we should organize armed, but peaceful, protest using acts of civil disobedience. We have to use new tactics, and take more risk to have any chance. Then we go from there according to whatever happens.
