What I dont get is a person not thinking their region speaks that way. Most people can't hear their own regional accent. I guess it's what's called a normalcy bias.

No offence taken! AAMOF, there are different accents just in the Boston area alone. I’ve lived in NJ all my married life and still say ‘aunt’ and ‘bath’ in a way no one does here. Plus I say shu-er for ‘sure’. And my son Mark has gone from “Mahk” to a name almost with an ‘r’ in it. LOL! But Boston has always been Boss-ton. Maybe from my Canadian Mother?
I love accents! And -— no — I never picked up the Jersey one. You got a problem with that? LOL!
