Arredondo's father, Carlos, was waiting at the finish line to greet the ruckers, wearing a cowboy hat and a Tough Ruck T-shirt,

I saw a photo of this guy pitching in. I didn't "get" the shirt, I assumed there was a T in front of RUCK hidden by a fold or something.

These acts don't rise to the level of Bronze Star or Soldier's Medal heroism, IMHO, but I would think that some of those troops qualify for the ACM (Army Commendation Medal).

And, all who made the "Tough Ruck" run deserve at least a letter of commendation from their commanders.

But I do remember the infamous televised attack and beating of FReeper Don Adams at a peaceful protest in Philadelphia by some of Clinton’s union goons. And that televised attack led to the March for Justice and subsequently the impeachment of Bill Clinton. That was all published at the time and is in the history books.
