For a while I thought the show was funny. I’m not sure when it stopped being funny and just turned puerile and gross. Or, perhaps my view changed as the cumulative effect of too many bestiality and incest jokes buried any redeeming qualities.

Only a drop in the bucket. If ALL the crappy TV like that were pulled off the air, we would be back to two or three TV weather stations. When “censorship” was removed by the FCC, things went down hill fast and now look what we have pushed in our faces. BAD TV!

IMO, TV was one of the WORST EVER inventions as it has certainly lowered the standards of society.

I don't know, there used to be great shows on TV; however the last good show was 24. I miss Jack Bauer.

The show was old, though.

And there was no bombing in the episode at all.

The media is acting as if the show was just produced and had something to do with recent events.

Therein lies America's problem.

There IS such a religion ....

I think there’s a correlation.

In the 50s and 60 the parents who taught values would not have accepted anything less from TV. Its why shows like The Any Griffith show and Sterling’s Twilight show did so well.

From time to time I get coerced into watching an episode of Family Guy. To date is has always been the same. It is nothing less than animated liberal filth not worthy of viewing.

It is shows like this that echo why we ditched cable/DTV 7 yrs ago. All it does is perpetuate liberal myths about men, continues the male decline as the head of the household. Good riddance. How anyone can rationalize this as entertainment is beyond me.

If anyone is interested, the magazine, The Philadelphia Trumpet features a good read/analysis this month on the male decline.

Yes, exactly... parents teach values. They still do, really. It’s a question of what values do they teach. TV only reflects and reinforces the social values of the time. I’m an adult and there are no small children in my house, so I do enjoy some TV! I can actually watch a show and disagree with the point of view and still enjoy the show. But that’s just me... didn’t have TV until I was 8 so I guess it’s always been a fascination.

It did!

My husband's family is literally a pack of wolves, but my guy is awesome! When I met his family I was shocked and asked, "How the heck are you so wonderful?"! He said, "I watched a lot of Father Knows Best and My Three Sons reruns".

I had never even HEARD of those shows! He said they ran others too like Happy Days, Hogan's Heroes, McHale's Navy, Columbo and of course Star Trek every night till dawn and he kept a little 1980's Sony 12" TV in his room.

I have never that show and I am pretty sure I'd hate it, but this sounds more like bad luck than anything else.

My favorite movie used to be Fight Club, but ever since 9/11 I can't watch the ending. In the movie they say that the buildings are all empty at night, but I know better than that.

I, too, miss 24. But, we still have NCIS! It, and NCIS LA, are the only two network shows I watch anymore.

I digress. Family Guy is still a funny show, in syndication, but too irreverent at times. But then again, that's what makes it funny.

Same here. I'm watching Gram Norton now. He's a flaming gay but has a pretty decent British talk show that doesn't really delve into social or political issues much. Actors and actresses are a lot more interesting when they aren't being pumped to say something outrageous.

My kids are in college. I am sometimes surprised when they are home and I see what they are watching.

In the past four years they transitioned from “16 and Pregnant” (a ridiculous show) to actually watching the news—and commenting on it.

Both of them have told me they are stunned at how ignorant their peers are about current events. And how hardly any of them can form an opinion with any critical thought.

I think we need to be able guide our children. Provide them with a good foundation and trust that they will “male it” on their own.

I’m not surprised. I was looking up something online to use for teaching. I found a site called eNotes. It’s really a good tool, until you get to the history section. A book being used was written by Howard Zinn, noted communist.

I think the other thing that helped my kids was having access to their grandparents.

My MIL has always lived with us and we are fortunate that she had an active social life—with tons of older folks visiting all of the time. Those older friends provided my kids with a perspective on recent US history that their peers never got.

They heard endless stories about the Wars, Depression, Civil Rights, and a whole host of other issues that they lived through.

Something as simple as hearing first hand that, “JFK visited our plant, and boy was he handsome” is a context that you just don’t get. (Of course, those comments always devolved into my “FDR was a communist” debates...but those were always fun.)

I saw that episode and it was very critical of terorists.

Tinfoil alert: I have to wonder if the bombing was done to destroy the episode in a roundabout way....

Maybe they as in the mo people, realized that if they bitched about the episode like they normally do, as the south park mo episode they would see nothing done about it.

Tinfoil alert off...

So, this is that “youtube” video that the administration was looking for, that triggered the bombings in Boston. Now, all they need to do is link it to Wayne LaPierre...

That’s the mode of attack that I see anyway. Anything to discredit those that don’t parrot the communist/democRAT party line.
