Also reports of a major substation having been taken down with multiple gunshots to transformers, loss of cooling oil. Little on media, but seems well documented. Any confirmation from out that way?

It was almost exactly four years ago that something like this happened during union negotiations.

When its left wingers, sabotage is “vandalism”.

“Vandals”, hmmm.... No. It’s too well coordinated and precise for Vandals.

What was “really about” we might not find out about for a long time to come.

Well then... it had to be the Visigoths.

Thanks for the live link - pretty much confirms it afaic.

Back when I worked security for a major generating station on a coastal Island around ‘77-’78 we were concerned with terrorism even then.
Remember a guy by the name of “LeVasseaur” - he had an accomplice but I don’t recall his name - they were associated with the WU IIRC and were raising hob all over at the time.

When the Union went out on strike (and Unions are seldom above sabotaging their employers when disgruntled) they put me out at a substation - remote area off of a rural back road completely surrounded by trees and fields; a sniper’s dream. INcredibly vulnerable.

I just so happened to bring a .30-06 Springfield rifle along with me to augment the old worn out .38 S&W “Victory” revolver they issued.
Felt like a sitting duck.

When I was outside doing the rounds, I kept moving, and otherwise hunkered down.
Only comfort knowing that Union guys usually won’t kill cops - even of the rental variety, and I had a pretty good relationship with most of the workers.

Hadjis, however, are a whole ‘nuther brand of critter.

Our military ought to be back home guarding critical infrastructure like this - or at least have NG / reserve guards posted like they did in WW-II. You & I both know that ain’t happening though.

Not until after it’s too late.

Don’t forget the “Pyro Jihad” as the forests dry out.
I’m expecting a lot of wildfires to be “Acts of Allah” or “Arab lightning”. Those can do as much damage as any bomb, if not more... and they know it.

Visigoth’s? A point, very small though.

It could be a test to see what the reactions and repair times for that type of damage is.

Vandals(?) knocked communications out?

Maybe. But then again it could be the work of the Huns, the Ostrogoths or the Visigoths.

I’m wondering why the Vandals breached the perimeter fence when they could easily perforate the transformer cans from safely outside - probably right out of their vehicle?

...Unless they wanted to go in and leave a little present with which to surprise the trained technicians who try to repair the damage and LEOs who come to investigate.

Transformers are not the only commodities which might be difficult to replace.

I hope that the dogs have been sniffing around for any ham sandwiches or misplaced cell phones that might have been left lingering about that substation or down in that manhole...
