Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, popular with conservatives and libertarians in the GOP, said Wednesday he is considering a presidential campaign in 2016 but will not make a decision before next year.
Paul said at a breakfast sponsored by The Christian Science Monitor that he wants to be part of the national debate and said that remaining open to a presidential bid would give him a broad audience on a number of policy issues.

Like father, like son. Heck maybe we’ll a Paul - Paul ticket.
He can consider all he wants. I won’t consider, or vote for him under any circumstance.
And how long will it be before he won’t be able to hide (or his father’s nutcase anti-defense, anarchist supporters won’t permit him to hide) the same lunacy policies on defense?
Rand’s got a ton of questionable statements that have been buried since he focused on the more agreeable fiscal areas and was “forced” to give a correct opinion on the recent death of a seal member after his father made another one of his outrageous comments.
Fiscally, yes, but outside that many questions remain.
He better shove his garbage down a disposal, and be ready for Gloria Allred to come up with 3 women and possibly a dog that he either molested or raped 10 years ago. His garbage cans will be thoroughly searched and microphones will be hidden throughout his house and in his car.
The real nutcases are those who want to bomb the world then nation build it until we go broke. I'll go for a guy who would insist on a formal congressional declaration of war before bombing in another country. Maybe that's Rand.
I’ll vote for him in a minute!
Don’t know whether I’d vote for him, but I do know that I’ll not EVAH vote for a RINO again.
So the Repulsicans better get us someone who’s not 1) 1,000 years old with a brain to match, or 2) a RINO with no brain whatsoever.
2016 will be Rand vs. Jeb. Santorum, Graham and Rubio will probably be in the race as well but their campaigns will never get off the ground. I predict a Paul/Cruz ticket in the general election.
He’s going to have a hard time getting the nomination from people who expect “their guy” to tell them what they can and can’t do in almost every aspect of their lives or lavish them with favors for certain activities.
His amnesty support is a dealbreaker.
Rand Paul will run on a platform of a weaker American where anyone of foreign status may illegally enter the country and stay.
Unless there is someone else viable out there with the last name “Paul”, you will not see that ticket in the general election. Rand Paul just shot his chance at POTUS in the head.
“Rands got a ton of questionable statements”
So, you’re good with Rand Paul’s supporting of Amnesty?
“Rand Paul just shot his chance at POTUS in the head.”
Because you don’t agree with him on everything?
You are probably forgetting that the “base” nominated McCain and Romney in the last two go arounds. If anything, Rand Paul might have a hard time because he is too conservative.
You may not like his position on immigration, but the others (Jeb, Rubio, etc..) have positions that are even worse.
The problem with Rand Paul is that every time he gets close to Dog Doo he has to stick his foot in it.
His filibuster against new gun laws was great, then he wants to give the country away to illegals.
Rand needs to learn that sometimes he should just STFU.
Or at least was popular until he opened his mouth up for amnesty.
The Rand/Rubio/Amnesty ticket. I’m so psyched. / Sarc
Rand’s son will be of age to run for president when Rand gives up the dream. Their motto is “Whatever it takes to help Democrats!”
He won’t get my vote, although he would be popular in his native Europe. America says, “Nuke Iran. Support Israel.”
That right there, along with his position on immigration (or, rather, amnesty) is the reason I will not vote for Rand Paul. Conservative? Not hardly.
Just seemed more accurate.
Me too, and I probably have a better chance than he does.
I’d have to think about voting for rand and his coonskin hat.
