Emergency crews were responding Wednesday night after a report of a major explosion at a burning fertilizer plant in West north of Waco.
West firefighters were dispatched to the plant earlier in the evening after an earlier fire rekindled.
The explosion was reported at around 7:50 p.m. in a frantic radio call from the scene of the fire at West Fertilizer at 1471 Jerry Mashek Dr. just off Interstate 35.
Numerous injuries were reported and multiple ambulances were requested.
Several buildings were reported destroyed and a nearby nursing home was damaged.

UPDATE: Numerous Injuries Reported In West Fertilizer Plant Explosion
Just heard over scanner there will be 9 air rescue landing at West High School.
First the incident in Beaumont, then this. What’s going on in Texas? Oil patch people need to be on the alert.
Wow, Gods speed to Waco
Had not heard about the incident in Beaumont.
Looks like anhydrous ammonia trailers by the fire. Very dangerous.
High winds contributing to problem.
We are just two days away from the Waco Branch Davidian Compound and Oklahoma City bombing anniversaries....fertilizer bomb, remember?
Omg!! Prayers for my fellow Texans!!
Just a fire, then explosions. Dallas and Ft Wrth FD in route. All homes within a half mile totaled. Homes as far as 3 miles knocked off foundations
Watching on TV now. Looks really bad!! God..help those people!!
Prayers UP for everyone in Waco, Texas..please be OK
Looks like when the SS Grandcamp blew on April 16, 1947 and leveled Texas City. She carried 2300 tons of 28% Ammonium Nitrate fertilizer. OK City bombing used the same fertilizer with a diesel fuel enhancement.

Ammonium nitrate fertilizer storage. They had a fire earlier in the day that was thought contained. It flaired back up and the fire department went back to put it out. Then the explosion.
The explosion rattled the house and shook the ceiling fan. I’m within 14 miles of ground center.
It was a big BOOM.
The town is West, TX 76691
You felt it 14 miles away! Boggles the mind.
Another careflight flying north bound just went over.
Most likely headed to Dallas Parkland. Best burn center in central TX.

WEST, TEXAS EXPLOSION: Hundreds of injuries likely from Texas fertilizer plant blast: official
From my friend who lives miles and miles from this location; this was her account—
“The explosion at West shook our house. I thought it was extremely loud thunder, but Weldon said he thought it was an explosion...turned out, he was right. Early reports say a large part of the town was leveled, with multiple major injuries. Prayers for those in West.”
Caution: don’t give the Won a false flag excuse.
It looks really bad.
Just heard they are evacuating the entire town !!
I just heard they are evacuating the town. Check the wind and if you are downwind, pease be ready to go.
Thanks for keeping us info’d here.
Heard they are running out of water with 50 fire trucks engaged. Taking water from pools to meet the shortage.
Thank God Waco is not expecting severe weather tonight.
Dang ol stock ponds are low too.
Go to google maps for West Texas, look just to the east of mile marker 354 youll see a school facility and foot ball field. Then look north across the street about 500 ft and that is the West Fertilizer Plant. Put Google Maps on Satellite and youll see the tanks, etc. Also reduce the scale to 200 ft or so.
Lots of residential buildings in that area.
I think if I saw that on the horizon, with all of NK’s threats recently, I’d be looking for a fallout shelter!
My heart is in my stomach. Can only imagine what those poor people are going through. Please don’t let it be terror!
Reporting 60 killed 100 injured.
60 killed so far according to news. Dear God.
It sounds like an accident but time will tell.
Watching the coverage on the Dallas TV stations now, and I saw two ETMC ambulances from my city of Tyler, TX on the scene there. Bear in mind Tyler is 130 miles from West, TX. They must be calling in ambulances from all over TX.
Now, they just said on Dallas Channel 4 that the EMS director of West, TX says there may be 60 to 70 people dead. So sorry to say.
Just heard from a friend whose wife delivered a baby today at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco (primary major hospital closest to blast site). Their nurse told them it is all hands on deck in the ER, and they’ve been told to anticipate over 100 fatalities.
Yes..something about a fire earlier that flamed back up and then exploded.I am shuddering thinking about Bopal, India. Can you imagine how hard it is to get out of there on i35??
I would be finding me some rabbit trails to leave the area.
Pardon my language, but holy s***! G-d be with those poor people.
There are photos of an apartment complex TWO MILES from the site of the explosion that was devastated.
The hospital in West is right near the explosion site. They will be evacuating that too if not already under way.
I am sure 35 is a nightmare.
The Nursing Home was virtually leveled.
