Promises, promises: Obama’s IOUs start coming due

Presidential campaigns are long in the making, quick to be forgotten. But one part of them lives on for years: the victor’s promises.

President Barack Obama paved his path to re-election with fewer promises than in 2008. The ones he did lay down, though, are meaty, legacy-shaping for him and consequential to ordinary lives today and for generations to come, for better or worse.

They also are extraordinarily difficult to achieve in a time of gridlock grief and budgets that are tight when they are not paralyzed. …

Whatever a candidate’s promises, legacies are made by how a president manages matters of war and peace, economic growth and weakness, social change and traditional values, and whatever crises come out of the blue. …

But Obama made a pact with voters, not historians, and he’s got IOUs outstanding. …

we hire

What if I did not hire someone wanting to take away my God given rights? I have the right to object according to the Constitution and the Bible if I see those representatives doing wrong.

Hitler was never my grandfathers appointed leader.

So let me understand. If your Grandfather had been in Germany under Hitler's rule, your Grandfather would have been okay with being in Germany and being ruled by Hitler because it would have been God's Will? Pardon me, but I do not buy into that manner of thinking. Tyranny must be opposed not celebrated. God Himself does no less. God does choose His time and place as He shall forever.

There ya go.

“To secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed”.

People create governments to do what makes more sense to do in bulk rather than individually (establishing a community police force, rather than everyone trying to stay up all night watching their own stuff).

People cannot legitimately create governments to vote for the government to “take his stuff and give it to me”.

Also, He expected Adam (and Eve) to rule themselves, to tell themselves “No, I won’t eat from that tree; it looks yummy, but we’ve been told not to eat it, so we won’t.”

Also, He expected Adam (and Eve) to rule themselves, to tell themselves “No, I won’t eat from that tree; it looks yummy, but we’ve been told not to eat it, so we won’t.

That is not what I believe, nor what I haved learned from the Scriptures.

God knew that Adam and Eve would succumb to the temptation. Do you not think God is Omniscient? Do you think that He would not know before hand that they would surely eat from that Tree?

God deliberately 'set us up" to fail. He could have made robots, but instead chose to design a living, intelligent being capable of turning their face from Him. If that were no the case, there would have been no reason for Jesus! Yet, we KNOW/BELIEVE that Jesus was the Word noted in John 1, present from the beginning and even depicted in Psalm 2

Psalm 2: 1 Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break their chains
and throw off their shackles.”
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
5 He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 “I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”
7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:

He said to me, “You are my son;
today I have become your father.

8 Ask me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You will break them with a rod of iron;
you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”

10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear
and celebrate his rule with trembling.
12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry
and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

He was depicted throughout the Old Testament as our "Goel", our kinsman redeemer. He was patterned as the "sacrificial lamb", just as Abraham found the sacrificial substitute for his son, Isaac MIRACULOUSLY! It was ABRAHAM'S FAITH that saved his son. It is OUR FAITH that saves us from separation from God...

Genesis 22: 1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!”

“Here I am,” he replied.

2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”

3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.”

6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, 7 Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?”

“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.

“The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”

8 Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.

9 When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”

“Here I am,” he replied.

12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”

13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram[a] caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”

15 The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time 16 and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18 and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”

We are all brothers in CHRIST. Have a great day pal. Unlike muzzies... we can calmly discuss and talk and we both learned something. No one was hurt in the process!

GOD, please keep us safe from evil. Amen
