Exclusive: Saudi National Once Considered ‘Person of Interest’..............
The Blaze ^ | April 18, 2013 | Jason Howerton

Posted on 04/18/2013 9:39:30 AM PDT by yoe

Editor’s note: Please see the Editors’ UPDATES we will be placing in order of most-recent below. TheBlaze’s Jonathon M. Seidl contributed to this report.

Key points:

On Sean Hannity’s Fox News program Wednesday night, terror expert Steve Emerson cited sources saying Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi national who was briefly named a “person of interest” in the Boston Marathon bombings, is being deported on Tuesday.
Thursday morning, Glenn Beck revealed on radio that TheBlaze was informed by sources that the Saudi national’s visa had been revoked and he was, in fact, going to be deported on “security and related grounds.”
Among other things, sources told TheBlaze that the Saudi national had ties to a well-connected Saudi family and that his deportation was set to be framed as a “voluntary” departure to be with his family.
A file, called an “event,” was started on him three days ago.
While discussing the issue on radio, TheBlaze’s Chief Content Officer Joel Cheatwood revealed that the government is now considering not deporting Ali Alharbi.

UPDATE V (12:13 pm ET):

Sen. Rand Paul reacted to TheBlaze’s report during a radio interview with Glenn Beck by saying he will be “looking into” the report. He also added that in general the United States needs to “have more scrutiny on these students when they arrive.”

Agreed. Bookmarked. This could be a marker for history later on. We’ll see how she shakes out.

Just a month ago, Homeland Security’s Janet Napolitano upgraded Saudis into America’s ‘trusted traveler’ program

SEE HERE:

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2013/03/janet_napolitano_upgrading_saudis_into_trusted_traveler_program.html

EXCERPT:

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, who famously declared “The system worked” after an underwear bomber was able to partially detonate his weapon aboard a jumbo jet bound for Detroit, has completed her divorce proceedings from reality. The New York Post reports:

Saudi Arabia, which gave us 15 of the 19 Sept. 11 hijackers, will soon get the coveted “trusted traveler” status from the Department of Homeland Security.

Saudi travelers who are cleared through the program could bypass normal customs lines after showing their passports and providing fingerprints.

Only a few other countries - Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands and South Korea - have been granted the same status, which is designed to ease entry into the United States for low-risk airline passengers.

The decision was made in January after a meeting in Washington between Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Saudi Arabian Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, but gained little attention, Fox News reported.

According to the Investigative Project on Terrorism, in 2010, Saudi Arabia was among 14 countries whose citizens were subject to extra screening, because of its record as a breeding ground for terrorists. There have been absolutely no reports of Saudi Arabia changing its school curricula, which foster hatred of Jews and infidels in general, nor have there been any signs of any change in the role of extremist ideology in shaping the Saudi public.

As every hour goes by, this event and those reporting/investigating this event, are really starting to reek.

I have never seen so many public officials and media reporters dance in circles, make repeated inaccurate, slanted, biased and inconsistent comments and statements. Scheduled news conferences regarding the bombing which never happen , then suddenly Obama is on every channel talking about gun control, then with hours he's meeting with Saudi officials regarding some questionably individual who was at the bombing site?

I wholeheartedly agree.

And as someone who works in Boston, I've taken this very personally.

It's getting curiouser and curiouser.
