MIT issued an emergency alert at 10:48 on Thursday night reporting shots fired on the university campus. The school newspaper reports, "Shots fired near 32 Vassar St (Stata Center), police officer down. Please stay inside." That report is backed up by CBS News's Bonney Kapp who reports hearing "officer down" on the police scanner just before the MIT alert went out. For now, details are scarce, but the suspect is on the loose and considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Why on earth would the marathon bombers make a guy drive around the city for an hour? Just makes no sense.

They are possibly heading to New York..cop just said they were involved in the shooting at MIT. I think it’s them..all descriptions match.

Mark Fuhrman made some great points tonight on Hannity..there was NO reward offered for the bombers..usually in any instance where its a high profile case they offer a reward to give family members or friends an incentive to rat their buddy out..but NO reward money was offered..that tells him that these two bombers are international, because in Pakistan or some other foreign country our currency means nothing to them..these two bombers might have been in the US for a while but they are NOT American
