Kansas Governor Signs ‘The Second Amendment Protection Act’

Tuesday Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R) signed what is being called the strictest Second Amendment protection law in the nation. “The Second Amendment Protection Act” does exactly as the name implies: It provides residents protection of their Second Amendment rights by exemption from federal gun control laws, including bans or restrictions on certain guns, magazines or ammunition, for all guns and accessories within the state’s borders.

“Any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the government of the United States which violates the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States is null, void and unenforceable in the state of Kansas.”

Simply put, any federal gun control laws that may be passed are not valid in the state of Kansas under the new law. The bill also prevents any federal agent from enforcing federal gun control laws within the state, as well as allowing prosecution of federal officers who try to enforce such laws within the state’s borders.

In what seems to be a growing trend, there are currently 30 other state legislatures considering similar laws to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed in their state.

Kansas lawmakers hope the bill will also encourage gun companies who are threatening to leave gun restrictive states to set up shop in Kansas.

Co-sponsor of the Kansas bill, state Rep. Brett Hildabrand (R-Shawnee) told the press, “My understanding is, it is the strictest Second Amendment protection law in the nation. That is really great news. It creates a stark contrast with our neighbors in Colorado. I consider it a pro-job growth bill because of it encouraging the large gun manufacturers or those who make gun components to move to Kansas.”

[[Here’s a wild thought, let’s make the Constitution the Supreme Law of the Land!]]

That woudl be fine- but conciderign how the left loves to twist everythign and imply crap thaty isn’t even remotely conencted to what was said, you woudl have to reconstruct the constittution in such a way that it couldn’t be twisted- a tall task indeed conciderign the ivnentiveness of the left

“I hope the governors here in the south are taking notes.”

South Carolina House just passed legislation out of a committee that nullifies obumacare in the state.

If we learned anythng from the Watertown lockdown is that people need to protect themselves in their homes.

Agreed. It's getting harder and harder now.

I don't really know what to do about it...Just keep your powder dry and all your "fully automatic" weapons clean...

I’ve just sent Governor Brownback an e-mail commending his action and urging to hold firm against the inevitable federal pressure to revoke this legislation.
