The Boy Scouts of America called to end a long-standing ban on openly gay members, a spokesman said on Friday, but the organization's board must still vote in May on whether to ratify the resolution.
If the vote is approved, "no youth may be denied membership in the Boy Scouts of America on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone," Deron Smith, the organization's spokesman, told Reuters.
Smith noted that the decision drew from three months of research, surveys and discussions and was "among the most complex and challenging issues facing the BSA and society today."
The deliberations over whether to admit openly gay and lesbian members to the Boy Scouts has divided organizers, polarized its corporate and religious sponsors, and placed the group at the center of a nationwide debate over gay rights over the past two years.
"This is a historic change for the Boy Scouts," said Patrick Boyle, whose 1994 book "Scout's Honor" examined sexual abuse in the Boy Scouts of America.

Notice how the Boy Scouts are changing policy based on cultural trends rather than remaining unchanged based on absolute moral principles (which don’t change). This is a sell out to liberalism and relativism.
That’s it. If you’ve got a kid in the scouts, pull him out. They want to do this, they face the consequences.

Also there is info there on the breakouts of the survey. Bottom line is 72% of the charter organizations oppose ANY change, and roughly 2/3 of the members oppose ANY change.
The resolution still needs to be voted on in May so this battle is not over — even if the press wants to say it is.

No need in turning this thread into another Catholic Church bashing. Anyone with a brain knows that the Catholic Church has less cases of sexual abuse than protestant faiths, Jewish faiths, and public schools.
But with that said, there are thousands of Catholic parishes all over this country that sponsor Boy Scout troups. If they are told they have to accept open homosexuals as either members or scout masters, they will quit sponsoring the boy scouts. It’s that simple. The end of the Boy Scouts of America is at hand. Another great American institute ran out of business by the perverts of America, and that is sad.

Looks like they need to rewrite the pledge. God does not approve of homosexuality, but the BSA does. Maybe change that last line to "To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally ambivilent."

And, isn’t that the idea~~to destroy any American institution that ideals are based with Judeo/Christianity principles.

I thought this was already policy as for scout membership. This says nothing about allowing fag leaders.
