I did see the one of the Russian soldier.

They are a good example of what the human race is capable of when ruled by the most base elements of it’s character.

Vanessa Redgrave, if she were an American.

This article points out a lot about Chechen fighters. I thought this quote was especially significant.

“The firefight last night — complete (if reports are to be believed) with the use of explosive devices — gave me an eery sense of déja vu. The police and FBI should assume that the remaining suspect is wearing a suicide vest. He may not be, but many American vets have bitter experience with Chechen and other terrorists who would kill as many people as they could in an effort to escape, then — when cornered — draw in friendly forces just before a final suicide attack.”

My first awareness of a Chechen problem was when I read a book, Gorki Park, I believe, from the 1990s, that discussed the role of the Chechen Mafia in a huge informal flea market for all kinds of goods, including stolen outside Moscow. The were not liked by other Russians, and this was before the big fighting there. So when I read that the son was an auto mechanic and the father in Dagestan (still at war with Russia) in an auto business, my immediate thought was, hmmm? stolen auto parts??? Easy enough to follow up on by police.

Regarding the terrorism aspect. My recollection from the time was that while the Chechen’s were responsible for capturing the school, the Russian’s were responsible for rushing the process of freeing the hostages, just as they did in the Moscow opera, possibly resulting in a much higher death toll among hostages. Regarding apartment bombings, it has been conjectured that some of this was actually done by Putin to make his actions against rebels look justified and win elections. So we have a number of really tricky, sneaky, complicated elements, all of which need to be sorted out. Much too soon for a final report.

“Progressive scumbags that wish to disarm the citizens.”

Well, I suspect the Dems will STFU after this evening’s talking points roundup. Bringing up “gun control” and “immigration reform” is probably not polling very well right now for some reason.

What do you call the people in Boston who lived near the terrorists? Future gun owners and members of the NRA!

We have seen the victim cycle from other islamic radicals far too often.

Putin did not need anything to convince others, he had a dog and pony show he took on the road to Europe of videos that the chechens themselves had sent to Russia.

Have you been here long enough to recall the first beheading video that was around awhile back? With the chechen laughing as he used a knife to stab the neck of a soldier on the ground.

Yes, I was just posting about that on another thread.

In Russia I spoke with people very near the border. We took our 7 yr old son to Russia and when we were very close to Ikcheria the Russians did not allow us to speak English in public. The chechens tell their children bedtime stories which are very savage and add to their very warrior-oriented culture.

Georgia (Gruzia) where I have also spent time, has a warrior culture as well, but because they are Orthodox Christian, they are not savages.

this is the caucasus

You cannot believe in the mountains there, people are living as if it were still the middle ages.

Good research AC

A lot of Jewish & Catholic names on that list. Of course, we must remember that anyone who was the enemy of our enemy The Soviet Empire - was our friend.

I keep posting the comment from BO to Putin: “I will have more flexibility when I am reelected”. Have to wonder if Putin asked him to help with his Chechen problem.

That's no excuse. This group was formed in 1999, not 1959.

Apologies for being unaware of the Chechen brutality or Islam connection until the 2004 Beslan massacre. But it would seem that in 1999 these ACPC members should have been repulsed by their savage reputation and Islamofascist tendencies. Strange bedfellows indeed.

No, it wasn’t islam. It was their lack of Christian values such as forgiveness as in turn the other cheek and love they neighbor as you love yourself. That is the problem. If they had these values they would become humane people rather then terrorists.

Yeah, but they probably have offspring and distant relatives which because they lack Christian values means they have to avenge their terrorist relatives deaths upon someone.

“He described the family as peace-loving, ethnic Chechens.”

In some cultures and idealogies “peace-loving” means allowing them the freedom they don’t want others to have.

They will probably avenge those deaths in the United States because it is a much softer target. The Russians don’t play nice and give people lawyers.

“Georgia (Gruzia) where I have also spent time, has a warrior culture as well, but because they are Orthodox Christian, they are not savages.”

Precisely, it is the lack of Christian values that creates terrorists. And since Christianity came out of Judaism, it may be more precise to say lack of Judeo-Christian values.
