Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to take a case challenging New York state's extremely restrictive "may issue" system for designating whose lives are worthy of armed defense. From Fox News:
The justices on Monday declined to hear a challenge to a strict New York law that makes it difficult for residents to get a license to carry a concealed handgun in public. The court did not comment in turning away an appeal from five state residents and the Second Amendment Foundation. Their lawsuit also drew support from the National Rifle Association and 20 states.
Despite that lack of comment on the reasoning behind the Court declining to take the case, rabidly anti-gun Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan claims to know the exact reason for the refusal, and (who'd have guessed?) that supposed reason is just what a forcible citizen disarmament advocate would hope it to be. From Illinois Watchdog:
Attorney General Lisa Madigan said Monday that inaction by the United State Supreme Court on a New York gun case opens the door to may issue permits in Illinois. The legislature now can look up and say A may issue permit is now constitutional, Madigan said of the high courts decision not to review New Yorks concealed carry law. It should have an impact on discussions and the debate going on under the dome.
The "debate going on under the dome" to which Madigan refers is the state legislature's ongoing battle to craft a defensive handgun carry law by June 10, a deadline imposed by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals when it struck down Illinois' outright ban on firearm carry (whether openly or concealed) as a violation of the Second Amendment.

We know how things are going in Chi town with Can’t Carry gun laws.
We can make a test case out of it and say that now every house in town has to have at least one defensive firearm.
Then watch the crime and murder rates.
