America’s Just Not That into Obama
NRO ^ | 4/19/2013 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 04/20/2013 9:36:53 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

‘You know, I actually believe my own bull****.”

That’s what President Obama once told a reporter. If the man ever uttered a statement that spoke more to his approach to politics, I haven’t heard it.

Whether it stems from a grandiose overconfidence in his own powers of persuasion, or the lessons he took from his years as a community organizer, or his own messianic conviction that he is on the right side of everything, including history itself, the president has always operated under the theory that he can move the American people to his causes. And he can’t. He just can’t.

Yes, he got elected and reelected, and that’s saying something. But whatever personal popularity the man has doesn’t transfer to domestic policy.

It’s as if the American people are saying, “Mr. President, we’re just not that into you.”

“What about health-care reform!?” his fans invariably respond.

Well, what about it? Sure, it passed. But the Affordable Care Act didn’t become law because Obama ignited a populist prairie fire in favor of it. He dedicated vast, vast swaths of his time and energy trying to sell the American people on Obamacare. He never made the sale (and still hasn’t). The misbegotten law’s passage is attributable entirely to the fact that Democrats rammed it through Congress — with a 60-vote majority in the Senate — using the sorts of backroom deals and corporate giveaways the American people despise.

Ironically, the only populist mass movement on domestic-policy issues Obama can claim credit for creating is the Tea Party, which I think we can all agree isn’t what he had in mind.

Could that number possibly be 90%? LOL! That seems to be THE number to be touted on nearly everything these days.

I really believe Gingrich would have beaten him...Newt at least would have fought.

Romney was the worst national candidate since Tom Dewey.

Black magic uses the vile spirits of hate, lies and death. It is Obama’s meat and method.

Absolutely!

Fags are so PC, the pop stars of anti culture and everything Democrats stand for. Obama has to be popular with Americans. In one package we get everything the left dreams of, a black man, a faggot, an effeminate male who is nearly female, a Communist, a Muslim, a liar and half-wit. He spends the people’s money on extravagance and pleasure in ways that make world kings and despots green with envy. He is destroying America faster than any of our enemies could have hoped for, turning producers into slaves of the ever increasing non-producers. From a leftist point of view, what’s not to like.

I just returned from a funeral here in rural Pa. Murtha's old district. Relatives of my wife.

After the service, there was a gathering of the family. I had thought they were mainly pro-Obama and Democrats.

I was wrong. They despise Obama. They asked how was it possible that he was re-elected. We came to the conclusion - Voter Fraud.

They are terrified of Obamacare - they're getting older and know that care will probably not be there when they need it.

I asked "who believes that the Obama 'Birth Certificate' is legitimate?" - NOT A SINGLE ONE!

Heartland Americans - they know what's happening to their beloved country.

The media should spend more time with them.

LOL! That should be the subheading of his Presidential Biography. :)

Yes you’re so right and Rats should be happy but they voted as many times as they could and what has Hussein done for them lately? They need more free stuff from the gov’t NOW: social services, health and baby care, pre-pre-kindergarden, better cities to destroy, degrees, careers (not jobs), unearned income, mo bigger steaks, beer, cars, transportation, houses, utilities, Section 8’s, phones, computers, wide screens, degrees, drugs, roll-around-chairs, and why not bling, women, respect, gold teeth, tattoos, sports shoes, and black only this and that and above all a third term for the dictator.

Go back to sleep Jonah!

Obama never got elected or re-elected. Fraud has been his path into office every time.

Elections don’t count, ballot counters do.

“Romney was the worst national candidate since Tom Dewey.”

Romney played the role he was assigned to a T in 2012. Just as McCain did in 2008. Who in the Republican Party will have the honor of playing loser in 2016 to the Hillary Clinton/Duvall Patrick ticket? Mr. Rubio, please pick up the white courtesy phone.

Newt would have exposed him, as he had during the primaries, when the low info dumbies weren’t watching.

Yes, he got elected and reelected, and that’s saying something.

Only because the GOPe ran two candidates that only just enough republican primary voters would vote for, and barely even then. That's about all that is saying. Appropriately apply voter fraud where necessary and he's a two-termer.

Personally, since watching The Bible, every time I see obama, I see the spitting image of Satan.

obama's probably not that guy, but they have the same plan and use similar methods.

Right On! BUt the MSM and the Left has demonized the Tea party turning it into a “hate Party” to the point that the historic Rattlesnake Flag was banned in New York. Maybe we need a new structure—or movement to replace it. How about a Constutional Movement called “We The People”? OR a George Washington Club—to find for the dreams of the founders. We on the right must do all we can to get people like Rand Paul, Lee, Rubio, and Cruz in Congress. You know the Progressives will do all they can with their MSM allies to get people in to the Left of Hillary. They are organized and well funded. they are corrupt and will balk at nothing. Now is the time to Act-—Sarah Palin is the best we have.

It’s way past time to look into establishing a viable third party...this system just doesn’t work anymore.

So true. It doesn’t work for conservatives like US but it dang sure is working triple overtime for the elite and welfare maggots. TPTB always kill 3rd parties in the womb; their plan for chaos is so broad and so far along it won’t be stopped.
