Thanks for the ping! If I were independently wealthy, I would be there. Since I’m not, I won’t be, but I will rely on you to give us all the news about it. :o]
You either love the sound of bagpipes or hate them. I LOVE them! Haven’t got a drop of Scottish blood in me that I can find up to the 1600’s, but I love the sound of the pipes. Scotland the Brave gets me going. And what’s not to like about handsome men in kilts? God Bless Scotland!
The Muslims are making changes there too.
Lived in Vancouver Canada 1982-85. We were about 100 yards from Stanley Park. On Robbie Burns Day, a piper would start the day some where deep in the park (1000 acres) saluting Burns and all Scots.
The sound drifting through the forest and into our apartment would make the hairs on my neck stand on end.
It was wonderful!!!!
One of the entrants wanted to take his prized bagpipes to the competition as carry-on luggage, but was told it was necessary to check them. When he arrived he anxiously went to the baggage claim and awaited his luggage. When he saw his bag, something was amiss, and with great trepidation he went over to inspect it. Suddenly, it dawned on him that his worst fears were realized: Someone had placed a second set of bagpipes in his luggage!!
PIPER DOWN !
Best use of bagpipes in a rock song.

Hey, there are no pockets in a kilt! Give the guy a break. :)
This guy always looks like a young Dan Aykroyd to me.
I think our State of Jefferson pipe band competed. They are made up largely of CalFire personnel and do a lot of parades and ceremonial functions in the North State.

Kilts
Kilts?
Who forgot the bloody kilts?
Does that silly suet pudding masquerading as a woman expect them to go full Monty?
While the Scottish pipers can stir the blood to swing claymores and yet produce the most mournful laments, no man, woman, or child should have to hear four or five pipe and drum corps trying to tune up all at once.
In the early seventies I attended the wonderful Antigonish Highland Games in Nova Scotia. Aside from the gracious hospitality, those games remain embeded in my memory for two events. During the caber toss, onecontestants heave went a bit astray and snapped after hitting the wooden curb at the hammer throw spot.
Awesome!
The second event still chills my soul to this day. Walking towards the field we were startled by the most godawful noise. Sounded like ten thousand cats being tortured. Our host said, “Och, that’s only the pipers tuning up.l
Forget waterboarding. Let the gits at Gitmo listen to that 24/7 and they’ll crack in a few minutes.
