Is the State Hiding a Major Bible Era Find?
Arutz Sheva ^ | 20/4/13 | Gil Ronen

.....

The capital "apparently indicates that an entire temple of castle is buried beneath it," the newspaper adds. However, when Rosental contacted the Israel Antiquities Authority to inform them of the find, the person he spoke to simply said – "Yaron, good for you. You found it, but we already are aware of it. Now forget about the whole thing and keep your mouth shut."

Rosental said that he later found out that the IAA had known about the side for 18 months. He said that no digging has taken place since then, and that even steps like cordoning off the area to prevent damage to the rare find, have not been taken.

Rosental calls this "a scandal" but says that no less worrisome is that the state appears to have plans to move the separation fence between Israel and the PA in a way that will leave the site in the PA's hands,

According to Rosental, excavation of the site has potential for uncovering a complete castle from the Judean kings' period, for the first time ever. "We appear to have a complete castle here," he said. "Those who came after it did not know of its existence." The details found inside could be "amazing."

The IAA confirmed to Makor Rishon that the find is an important one that appears to date to the period of Judean kings. However, the IAA added, the subject is "sensitive" and "requires serious and responsible handing."

Ha. I saw the Lord of the Rings movies in theater. When Gandalf said “Sauron will raze Minus Tirith to the ground”, I heard someone say “how can you raise something to the ground?

"how did the erection of that building desecrate anything"

It was well-known at the time the significance of the location, which is exactly why an Islamic temple was built there. Muslims have a traditional habit of building mosques over the holy sites of other religions, in order to forcibly replace them.

I’m sure the person that made that comment has never given it a second thought.

We are living in a world where ignorance is not only accepted it is becoming expected.

Smart kids and intelligent public figures are ridiculed for having knowledge and actually thinking it makes a difference.

I’m paraphrasing a little. It was more like “Raise it to the ground”? But, they hardly even teach proper English in school anymore. Kids entering college these days spell text-message style. You know, with “u” meaning you, and “2” meaning to.

You are assuming an awful big lot there ~ about what people knew of the significance of anything. Ignance was rife!

Now, about the last previous guy to build something at Temple Mount ~ wasn't that Herod the Great? He wasn't exactly Jewish either ~ or are we now to count Herod among the Jews.

There's now a building there over the site of the altar and I believe that building is about 1300 years old ~ which is really old as buildings go.

The general populace was probably replete with ignorance, but those who built the temple must have known what they were doing. What holier site is there for Jews? None. Am I making assumptions? Probably, but I would need to be convinced otherwise if they’re wrong. It still doesn’t change my opinion that this is a Jewish holy site, not a Muslim one. Jerusalam isn’t even mentioned in the Quran.

I have a college age daughter that deals with this everyday.

Thankfully, she has exceptional verbal skills and actually listens to what people say.

What have the Brit’s ever done for us anyway ?

Does't really work with God ~ might work with some gods ~ just pick up their statues and smash them.

Many times the successor religion has folks who adhered to the old religion and they may well have thought of the old religious facilities as being as much a community meeting place as anything.

So they'll protect it with a bit of redecoration, and all is good.

Not everybody knocks down the old ~ in fact all over Europe there are Protestant churches that were formerly Catholic churches, and other than rearranging the altar about 500 years before the Catholics finally came around to the correct point of view on that weighty matter, you'll find nothing much at all has changed in the buildings.

Recent work at the kaaba in Mecca demonstrated that the original hindu temple aspect of the structure is still sufficiently visible to the trained archaeologists that they were able to prove that's what it was ~ but without the snakes.

Then, there's the church attendance records of the Moslems themselves. Pakistani islamic researchers have determined that for the first 300 years of Islam (and that covers the period when the building in question was built) Moslems attended Christian churches ~ and appear to have not made a big deal of it.

No doubt there's more work to do on that issue, but it's interesting that there's any evidence at all that they, themselves, in the early period, when they are supposed to be so wild and wooly, didn't consider it a big difference!.

Which raises the fifth issue in the debate, why did the sultan build the building ~ what was he thinking ~ not what do the paleos today think, but what did he think. Further, if there'd been a Jewish authority in Jerusalem at the time, what would they have done.

The point I"m making is that the ancients were probably not fighting our battles, but their own, and for the most part, there in the early stages of the Dark Ages, that'd be surviving!

But, if you want to tear it down, do it, but that ticket is yours ~ not the ancestors.

i think they call it Al Quds in Arabic but that's neither here nor there. It is sufficiently remarkable to me that in an age of almost totally abject poverty some fellow thought to build a sturdy cover for the Altar.

Maybe it meant the same to him as it does to you!
