This provides quite an ironic capper to That Was The Rotten Week That Was. The police had just given a press conference essentially saying that they couldnt find 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and that people could once again leave their homes in Boston when David Henneberry noticed something odd in his backyard an untied tarp flapping in the wind:
After authorities relaxed the lockdown with Tsarnaev still at large late Friday afternoon, David Henneberry headed outside and noticed that the tarp had become unsecured something it had not done during the blizzards that hit Boston this winter. That, as boat owners know, simply will not do, so he went to fix it.
He got closer and realized that one of the retention straps had literally been cut not chafed, not broken or unhooked, his stepson, Robert Duffy, told CNNs Piers Morgan.
Henneberry noticed what appeared to be blood on the tarp and thought that perhaps an animal had gotten into the boat, so he climbed a stepladder and took a look. Thats when he saw something chilling.
He definitely noticed that there was something crumpled up in a ball in the forward portion, and at that point, he became an absolute hero, Duffy said. He did the right thing, As law enforcement had urged, he jumped off the ladder and called 911. They were within foot traffic distance. Immediately my mother and David were evacuated from the home.
The rest was history, and Henneberry theoretically saved a lot of lives with his alert thinking. He may have explicitly saved one life in particular Tsarnaevs. CBS reports this morning that the suspect would probably have died in the boat from wounds to his neck and leg had Henneberry not noticed the flapping tarp:

Watertown police chief: older brother was alive-being cuffed on the ground. Younger brother then backed over him, killing him.
fyi
Same that was a white house reporter, chief of staff, or something??
The writer of this article is nuts!
On what detail?
I probably read more into it than is there. I read it as the man was a hero for not only theoretically saving many lives by calling 911 on the killer but that he was also a hero for saving the killer’s life instead of letting him possibly die in that boat. I think I would have wanted hubby to heroically pull the trigger on the armed man in the boat.
Not much is known about size or whatever of a supporting cell.
Not true.
If Mr Henneberry had not found bomber #2, he would have died from a leg wound only.
The self inflicted neck wound happened because Mr Henneberry found him.
SPLAT!
Bwahahaha!
[I know we already knew this, but I'm never going to get tired of hearing it]
All in all, despite the damage to a perfectly fine boat (hopefully covered by insurance), it's best that Joker survived to answer questions.
He's at that age where his brother's hard-care influence may not have fully taken hold. Hopefully, before he ODs on KCl, he can spill the beans on some progressive multicultural efforts to spread religion.
Yes, hopefully, if not negated by a weaselly terrorism exception.
I’m wondering if Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s in-laws called law enforcement and ID’d him? They had to recognize him & his brother immediately.
I read that his father-in-law is an emergency room dr and his mother-in-law is a nurse. Had they lived in Boston, they probably would have been tending to the injured.
And now his boat is bloody and probably impounded for years.
Another reason to hate this jerk.
A more interesting question:
Did the younger bro INTENTIONALLY kill the severely wounded, but still alive brother, to keep him from surviving & possibly revealing info re. a terrorist cell, other planted bombs, or other valuable info?
Smoking saves lives!!!!
