Lindsey Graham: Wrong name hid Russia trip
Politico ^ | April 22, 2013 | Kevin Cirilli

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Monday that the FBI did not know that Tamerlan Tsarnaev — the deceased Boston Marathon bombing suspect — went on a six-month overseas trip in 2011 because his name was misspelled.

“He went over to Russia, but apparently when he got on the airplane, they misspelled his name, so it never went into the system that he actually went to Russia,” Graham said on Fox News, saying he spoke to an assistant director of the FBI.

Maybe we could start something like a “PASSPORT” system that would capture travel information. We could even find out where the president traveled when he was a kid.

The FBI under WITHHOLDER and THE FOREIGNER probably paid for his round trip ticket and hotel accommodations.

Oh, for heaven's sake, if I'm doing a Google Search on something, I can spell it many different ways and the algorithm manages to find it - usually 6,372,458 instances.

The FBI search can't handle a simple name spelling difference?

What do we pay those jerks for?

If they had used google search, it would have supplied the correct name.

Yeah, right.

Sorry if I think that’s a bunch of bull-Obama.

The man is pure sleaze. His staff is purse sleaze.

And you, Politico, are pure eaters of sleaze-stuff.

This is somewhat akin to the case of the blind sheikh. When he applied for a US visa in the consulate in Khartoum, his name was entered into the computer misspelled. He was on the terrorist watch list under another spelling of his name. Time to close the borders, brothers.

We have some serious problems that need to be fixed in this country, yet we have an entire Executive Branch that has no desire to fix what is broken, only to demand even more broken legislation to be enacted.

And we have a so-called opposition party that has no desire to fix anything.

Sure. Like a slight misspelling of a name is any defense.

Tell that to the person who has a name very similar to a wanted criminal, and see how long it takes to get that small error corrected in the records, while the real criminal ranges free for years.

If it ever is corrected.

One suspects that an awful lot of the names the DHS and ICE “just can’t find” are hiding out in practically plain sight, because of failure of diligence in comparing lists.
