How is the retirement job going?I'm a little disappointed in the hours, having to work until 1130 or midnight some shifts.

Speaking of San Diego, this is a time-lapse tour of San Diego very well done and worth your time. Love the cruise ship docking and the planes around Lindbergh Field.
Enjoy!!

White Sands Missile Range covers 2.2 million acres.
Ft. Bragg is home to over 48,000 military and civilian personnel.
What’s the measure?

Once you get to Devens your Field 210 file went in to the file cabinet with cobwebs never to be opened until ETS... Unless you were just there for school, like me.

I see what you mean.
I guess White Sands would be larger in one respect.
Eglin is probably the largest AFB in area but maybe not in personnel tho it is a very active base. All kinds of interesting things always going on there.
Also Hurlburt was part of Eglin in the 60s but now it is a separate base. I worked at Lackland back in the early 70s and it and Kelly were in a way the same base as they were separated just by an imaginary line.

That imaginary line gives rise to a different measuring standard. To cut some duplication, we have seen the rise of so-called Joint Bases - Lewis/McChord in Washington and Richardson/Elmendorf(?) in Alaska. How do you count those?
It would make for an interesting NCO club discussion over pretzels and beer. For a little while, at least.

That reminds me of a really strange marriage of bases.
Langley AFB and Fort Eustis. Langley is a beautiful base, it sort of reminded me of a college campus while Ft. Eustis was one of the dirtiest, ugliest bases I ever saw.
