WACO, Texas—President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will attend a memorial service Thursday for victims of last Wednesday’s deadly fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas.
The service is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. CT at Baylor University in Waco. A city official in West said the president is also expected to visit the site of the blast.
The Obamas were already scheduled to be in Dallas for the opening of former President George W. Bush’s presidential library Thursday morning. White House press secretary Jay Carney said Monday the first couple will fly to West after the library opening to meet with victims of last week’s explosion, which killed 14 people and injured more than 200.

He goes to west, TX and then on to the fund raisers. That way the tax payer picks up the tab for the fund raisers.

Lets face it, if he DIDN'T go there would have been a long thread here savaging him for not going, showing he doesn't care about flyover country, etc.

The only reason Obama and his wife Michelle are going to West, Texas is because they will be in Dallas to attend the opening of the GW Bush Library and attend a fund raiser (What else?). Since Obama and his wife, Michelle could care less about the devastated folks in West, Texas....I would suggest that the citizens of West and the surrrounding towns, turn out in large numbers to greet Obama and his Ilk, not with boo’s & catcalls, but simply turn their backs on Obama and his wife in silence. Booing & Catcalls demeans the Office of the POTUS, but back turning and silence is much more dignified and sends a powerful message to the rest of the nation as to how incompetent and cold hearted these anti-American two people (Obama & Michelle) are!!!

I have family in the area.....and that is just what they are going to do.
I really hope this tactic of folks out in West, Texas turning their backs on POTUS Obama and his wife works and many folks do it. There is, however, a “kinder way” for folks to show their disgust for the POTUS and his cold-hearted ilk. Face it...Obama could care less about West, Texas. He just about totally ignored it & the people killed, injured, with their lives changed forever. And....this may yet prove to be another terroist attack on USA soil!!! We’ll see.
When the POTUS arrives and is announced & introduced....people should give Obama a gentle round of applause, out of courtesy to the office. Then, no matter what he says afterward, they should not not applaud after any his his given remarks. When Obama concludes his remarks.....there should be no applause whartsoever!!! Just thinking out loud.
