To answer your question from yesterday. It was 15 acres, 900 semi dwarf Jonathan, Cortland, Red D and Golden D. 500 in the front 400 in the back. 12 sprays a year beginning with oil and some hot pesticides I had to get a license to use. The A-Hole who sold it to me didn't tell me it had shepherd's crook, AKA fire blight, AKA terminal tree cancer, and by the time I had the county extension come diagnose it it was too late. I tried to prune it all out but it infected the whole orchard in little over 5 years. I bought the property for the house and acres, the orchard basically free.
On the up side, apple wood is good for smoking meat.
Too bad; beautiful spread. I had 10ac of mixed orchards, and pulled it all after 10yrs, rather than having to deal with disease, insects, chemicals, labor and gov’t a-holes. Put it back into productive, money-making crops, with the rest of the 200ac.
