The city of Los Angeles Tuesday announced a $4.2 million settlement with two newspaper delivery women who were fired on by officers in Torrance during the manhunt for accused killer Christopher Dorner.

City Attorney Carmen Trutanich and attorney Glen Jonas, who represents Margie Carranza and her mother, Emma Hernandez, announced the settlement during a news conference.

In March, the attorneys previously announced a $40,000 settlement giving the women a new truck.

The greed of plaintiffs and their lawyers never ceases to amaze me.

greed? I’d say it wasn’t enough. The cops won’t ever be prosecuted so if we want it to change the $$ must be high.

Wasn’t this woman minding her own business, when she was shot in the back?

That’s got to be worth something.

Originally the LAPD wanted the two women to accept a new truck, donated by a local car dealer — oh, and the women had to pay the tax, licenses, and gift taxes in case before they could accept the new truck while absolving the LAPD officers. i am surprised they settled for only $4.2 million.

Me too. That is why they settled high - to avoid a disastrous trial. They did not want a public viewing of the details of the insane police action a trial would have provided.

I agree. I just wish the dumb ass cops who showed a complete lack of common sense and fire discipline had to have their outrageous pensions docked 50% until they had paid half of this amount.

“greed? I’d say it wasn’t enough. The cops won’t ever be prosecuted so if we want it to change the $$ must be high.”

And the money went to a couple of folks who were decent and hard working, as opposed to pi$$ing it away on more illegals and lazy citizens! Beyond that, it helps that crap hole known as Southern California, take another small step toward bankruptcy. It was a good move!

all because they were driving the same make and model of the truck, even the same color. so lets shot the occupants in the truck than ask questions later. really smart gun trigger cops, shot first ask questions later. so if they died - wrongful death by families would be sought after. but the cops should be relieved of firearms and assigned to guard a preschool

Do tell. I know that isn't anywhere near the truth in each of the three ways it could be.

Sweet! If LA wasn’t populated with LIVs, they’d vote out the mayor, Chief of Police and whoever else is elected, and tied to this costly fiasco.
