Americas top diplomat gets so many things wrong here that its hard to know where to start. Hes in Brussels, and during a press conference the subject of radicalization came up. Secretary of State John Kerry gets out in front of the facts.
The question from the reporter, according to a transcript provided by the State Department, was, Sir, with the problem we have that young people go to Syria (inaudible), does that matter also to the U.S., do you have the same problem?
Well, of course we have the same problem. We just had a young person who went to Russia, Chechnya, who blew people up in Boston. So he didnt stay where he went, but he learned something where he went and he came back with a willingness to kill people, said Kerry.
That is suspected, but not yet proven. Jihadists dont necessarily have to travel the world to become jihadists, not when the Internet can bring bin Laden and Awlaki back from the dead to exhort them to kill. Theres still the matter of where the Boston bombers learned to build their bombs, which could also have happened on the Internet or in Chechnya or someplace else. We just dont know yet.
From there, Kerry goes off into an odd, one-world riff.
I think the world has had enough of people who have no belief system, no policy for jobs, no policy for education, no policy for rule of law, but who just want to kill people because they dont like what they see. Theres not room for that. Thats what weve been fighting against after all of the wars of the 20th century. Now were in the 21st century, and its time for a different organizational principle. And we need to, all of us, do a better job of communicating to people what the options of life are. And were open. Democracies are open to people participating in the democracy, not killing people. And so I hope that we can all figure out how we translate these better opportunities more effectively in our politics.
People having no belief system isnt the problem. Its what they do believe that becomes the problem. Osama bin Laden and Pol Pot both had strong and easily identifiable belief systems. They were also mass killers. Hitler, Mao, Mussolini, Stalin they all had belief systems. The Iranian mullahs, Hizballah, Hamas they all have belief systems. Whatever Kerry is trying to say there, he isnt making a lick of sense. None of those people or the Tsarnaevs kill just because they dont like what they see. They kill, at least in part, as a means to bring about the kind of change that they do believe in.
That phrase people who have no belief system is a means of absolving groups that preach killing, and the PR groups that aid them, and the people who voluntarily fund them, and the governments that still wont put a stop to it.
Its not the lack of jobs or education policies that cause terrorism, any more than a lack of belief fuels terrorism. That Kerry believes that to be the case is terrifying. This man is in charge of our international relationships and has a strong say on how we project ourselves to the world. Hes inept. He doesnt fundamentally understand the world. Hes a rube who sounds smart because he speaks with a Brahmin accent.
From there, Kerry says this: Now were in the 21st century, and its time for a different organizational principle. What does that even mean? Should we re0rder the world to the terrorists liking? Or should we surrender our sovereignty to an undemocratic entity like the EU? What is Kerry driving at? Its doubtful that he even knows.
Oh, they have a belief system all right.
I disagree. I think the terrorists have a very strong belief system. Backed up by the ultimate in consequences for failure to believe.
Amazing . . . especially from that French-looking guy . . . no belief system, huh? Nothing from the Koran could have led to these filthy cowards killing and maiming innocent people, huh? What a total jackass!
What an idiot. It’s their ‘belief system’ that is the problem.........
Wasn’t he in Vietnam ?
Oxygen thief. [eyeroll]
Moron, the more I see what the world is sending us and taking from us, the more I am becoming an isolationist or at least some form of protectionist. I don’t want diversity anymore, I want American.
Is anyone surprised?
Stupid of this magnitude could solve the clobal energy issue. If only we could harness it.
Gees...Obozo sure can pick ‘em...the IQ of a brick.
Kerry’s mind is on vacation BUT his mouth is working overtime..
“no policy for jobs, no policy for education, no policy for rule of law, “
It’s called Sharia and it covers these, not so much jobs but education and rule of law for sure.
As Senator he was unlikely to get us all killed.
I think he spent more time serving North Viet Nam
No Belief System seems closer to being ‘Agnostic’ to me.
No belief system?
I thought the regime’s policy was that terrorism comes from people with strong belief systems, Christians, patriotic ex-military, Tea Party members, etc.
So atheists should be on a watch list? Okey dokey.
wow. Denial is strong with libs
Our entire government needs an enema, and fast!!!
I apologize on behalf of all MAssholes for ever electing this stiff to public office.
No, Kerry. You’re the one with no belief system. These guys have a belief system—it’s just an evil one.
Not really. Atheists are some of the most faithful people on the planet. They have faith in Humanism, the belief that humans and human reason is the source of all truth.
That's what we've been saying Kerry baby.
Strange how we have two of the most powerful people in the White House who make no sense when they speak! Opps three Biden, oh yea he’s just out there!
Why hasn’t 0 selected Bill Ayres for Terror Czar? At least we would have a knowledgeble person with first hand experience with Bombs and the types of people that perpetrate these types of crimes.
As usual Kerry is pushing Communism. That is the fighting the 20th Century he is referring to. To Kerry the 20th Century was all about bringing forth the Communist Utopia.
He believes that all of the violence in the world is the oppressed minorities fighting their oppression against the injustice of Capitalism. He is suggesting that these oppressed minorities should be getting themselves politically active instead of expressing their frustrations violently.
Of course as usual Kerry is full of it.
Roger that, but it appears that the Marxist in Chief has got the Peter Principle on warp drive with the people he surrounds himself with. This is not good. At all. We are all in dire danger from our enemies foreign and domestic.
Pray for America
It is a matter of shame to even mention this creatures name. He who is forever linked to sedition and or treason. One can always use the terms “State Department.”
Now isn't it just possible, Sec Kerry, that he went there already wanting to kill people? Sec Kerry, you have to face it maybe he wanted to fight for his religion. Jews fight for their religion, Catholics limit their fighting to abortion providers, and Protestants fight the Papists.
If this guy didn't like this country, he could have stayed where he went. He said it was because we attack Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan. That's pretty clear. He wanted to kill us for that. Probably thinks God sent him. He was willing to die. Watch out, there are probably others. They are not disaffected, yuts.
it is their “belief system” that is the entire problem!!!
the entire world knows this, from bitter experience,
and then the bombs go off
Today’s talking points memo is that the killers were “lone wolves”. Sort of a variant on the “Youtube video made them do it”. Kerry is just babbling on and working the talking points into it.
He’s partially right. In the name of “tolerance” and “diversity”, we’ve driven many of the younger generations away from any real religious belief, which leaves them open to recruitment into cults — and Islam is a cult far more so than it is a religion.
Somebody needs to tell the Secretary of State that the boilerplate text is “U.S. wars and presence in Muslim lands.”
Did he not get the memo?
Anyone have a handle on this?
Finally, a member of Obozo's administration who tells the truth about Obozo's administration.
>>Wasnt he in Vietnam ?
I think he spent more time serving North Viet Nam<<
I think he was searing meat there — or something...
John Kerry has that amazing combination of a towering ego plus a half rotted brain. He is so full of himself and always has been. He lied so much about his Vietnam service and injuries he believes it himself.
“I think the world has had enough of people who have no belief system, no policy for jobs, no policy for education, no policy for rule of law,”
He just described virtually every government today in the free world.
It’s just babble...These people babbling are hoping those listening have little monkey brains and will hop around and applaud when their done babbling..
Kerry just insulted all muslims who believe in Islam which teached them to kill “infidels” (us, for those in Rio Lindo).
If zero needed someone to say stupid things, why didn’t he just use Joe Biteme??
Does such blinding stupidity come naturally or does one have to work at it?
If lack of a belief system creates the potential for mass murder then we’re in bigger trouble than we thought, because half the people under 40 have never stepped foot inside a Church, Synagogue, temple or mosque.
They should rename him and Biden “Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb”. We’ll have to fight over which is the latter.
The greatest nation on the planet gets the third string for leaders. Of course, considering our situation, what intelligent leader would have seriously run in either of the last two elections?
As per usual, Kerry could not be more wrong.
John Effin Kerry, who served in Vietnam, is as empty and unqualified to represent the US as his lying kankled lesbian predecessor.
He was talking from his “no belief system” experience.
