7 Reasons Not to Swallow Marco Rubio’s Immigration Snake Oil (Adams rips the bill & Rubio)
PJ Media ^ | April 24, 2013 | J. Christian Adams

Posted on 04/24/2013 12:24:52 PM PDT by jazusamo

The immigration bill pushed by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and other members of the Gang of 8 is advertised as a comprehensive reform to secure the border and strengthen the immigration laws before allowing legalization.

Nonsense.

An actual read of the massive bill reveals it as radical legislation which will transform the rule of law and the political future of the nation.

Democrats are desperate to pass the legislation because they long to transform 11 million illegal immigrants and their families into Democrats.

The language of the bill doesn’t do what the proponents say. Instead, the provisions are a witch’s brew of lawlessness, executive discretion, and legalistic trickery crafted by the organized, open-borders left.

Examples of the deception abound.

1. Legalization and Border Insecurity

The bill provides for legalization in six months as soon as the secretary of Department of Homeland Security does another worthless Washington, D.C., review of border security. Almost anyone who has been in the United States illegally since as recently as December 2011 is eligible to legalize. This exposes the public- relations lie of rewarding only those who have put down “roots” in the United States.

Even the last mass amnesty in 1986 required applicants to have been in the United States almost five years.

Proponents say the bill will make us safer because we will know who is here. But the Boston bombers were already living here legally and were operating in plain sight.

In fact, in the bill aliens are eligible for legalization even if they were found by an immigration court to have filed a phony asylum application (page 66). Current law prevents them from obtaining any immigration benefits after they file a phony application.

The bill does not even require DHS to interview those who apply for legalization (page 105). The bill makes it a rubber-stamp approval.

The bill is supposed to protect aliens who live “in the shadows.” But aliens who have been through the court system and were ordered deported but refused to leave will benefit from the bill. (page 75). The bill allows some aliens who have been deported to return and get legalization.

The bill even encourages federal-court lawsuits and gives federal judges broad review powers over individual applications if the DHS dares to deny an alien’s application. This is a prize for the immigration bar who helped draft the bill. Similar to the 1986 amnesty, this provision will weigh down the courts for decades.

2. A False Sense of Security

The bill does a good job of creating the illusion of greater security. For example, the bill only requires that the government have 90% control of “high risk border sectors” (where there are 30,000 or more apprehensions per year).

So as long as 27 K are "apprehended", we can rest assured that the border is 90% under control. If quadruple that number are permitted to sneak by, the government can still claim to have established 90% control of the border. How stupid is that?

I am here too and I cannot help but think Little Ricky is taking a hedge your bets approach and partly thinking that it is inevitable so he might as well play well with others. I hope he would have more gumption and tell them to kiss off, but he is the ultimate professional politician.

I don’t need to get all anti Rubio, but so far as I’m concerned he’s finished as a presidential candidate.

As is anyone who puts their agenda ahead of the true lessons of the Boston bombings.

When the left has infiltrated to destroy from within, every other institution in this nation (starting with academia, the media, government bureaucracy, most lately the Christian church and the military), why would they neglect to infiltrate to destroy the only meaningful opposition party? Why do people think that the very idea is too far-fetched, when it’s exactly what they’ve done with every other important American institution which controls the lives of Americans and steers the direction of the nation either through government or the culture? I do not understand why people don’t think this could be happening.

It’s hard for me to even look at the guy. This bill is a form of treason forever changing if not destroying the US and any pretense it has had to representative government; or sovereignty. This issue alone that is presented in such compassionate dress is the death blow from which there will be no recovery. As bad as seeing big ears declared king.

I despise the argument - we have to do something! We don’t have to do something if it’s the wrong thing. Even my own family that are pretty conservative give me this reply for every area that is screwed up which is intentionally everything. Never in history or even now in almost any other country would something like this even be considered. (I realize it is being forced on white Judeo-Christian western countries the world over) If it wasn’t for my Christian faith and hope in the future apart from this nation I’d be having even bigger difficulties than I already do; I have friends and acquaintances who are either of Mexican background or really anyone who supports this bill of destruction of USA - I don’t want to associate with any longer. I don’t wanna even try and convince them if they can’t see the reality of the consequences. In arguing the case PC rules make one out to be a racist hater and stupid evil person; that is if the person one is talking to can even listen longer than it takes for them to think what a racist evil uncompassionate bigotted close-minded person you must be.

God help us!

If this is Rubio’s big entry in politics, then he should find the exit, now.

And his spokesman equated being illegal alien with being a slave. I wonder if it upset some of the black “leaders.”

You know he was a democrat back in the day before it was necessary to be a republican to win in Texas...

Yes, we're all painfully aware of that in Texas, and that Gov. Perry has a short list of about 290 big-bucks contributors for whom he saves all his gee-ing and haw-ing. If you're not on the list ....

I got beaten up on our Texas state board for taking an "anybody but Perry" line, back in 2011 when Perry was up for reelection as governor. I had a bad feeling the PTB would put him up as a presidential candidate, guaranteeing that their open-borders, internationalist policies would go forward, submerging the State of Texas in low-wage border-jumpers (who are also cultural refuseniks in many places) and guaranteeing that the Democrats would eventually get control of Texas again and lock the GOP out of the White House for the next 200 years.

My goodness, you sound like one of those ‘Bitter Enders’ Grover Norquist warned us about...one of those loathsome
‘restrictionists, who merely think of themselves as conservatives’!

Prepare to be ‘marginalized’!!!! Grover need his amnesty, so get over yourself.

Grover vs. ‘the Bitter Enders’(Grover trying to give Rubio political cover)

[snip] Grover Norquist is known as an anti-tax crusader, but in the coming weeks he will be just as much a pro-immigration crusader, combatting what he calls the “bitter enders” who oppose comprehensive immigration reform. Norquist says that he’s trying to counteract the effect of “a handful of radio talk-show hosts who talk loudly.” “The bitter-enders who are still responding to radio talk-show hosts from eight years ago haven’t noticed that the world has shifted from underneath them,” he says. “The people who need cover are the guys who are still voting like they were Pat Buchanan."

[snip]”In an unlikely pairing, renowned anti-tax activist Grover Norquist stood alongside AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, the leader of the nation’s largest labor coalition. Senators from both parties yukked it up with jokes throughout the hour-long affair.

After the conference ended, Norquist predicted the Gang of Eight would succeed, arguing that opponents like Sessions and Vitter, who sunk the last immigration bill in 2007, have been marginalized. Restrictionists, Norquist said, are people who merely “think of themselves as conservatives...If you’re a Republican, you look at the business community wants it, the religious community wants it,” he told reporters. “Who is the opposition? Are you all getting a little tired of being insulted by these political whores on our side of the isle?? It's expected from the other side, but maybe THEY are the other side.

PS...Grover is Rubio & the gang of 8's advisor who is writing this bill along with Rubio's chief of staff, Cesar Conda.

Hannity (and frankly FOX News) worships at the alter of Beckel, Juan Williams, Joe Lieberman...and Karl Rove to only name a few.

What more needs to be said about Hannity's/FOX News "conservatism"?.

WEll, I stopped using their commercial advertisers. I hope others will until they say SOMETHING! I’m not surprised they sell out, but a talking head job isn’t worth sacrificing your country over.

SILENCE IS CONSENT!

The Boston bomber brothers lived lavishly, drove luxury cars and had the leisure time and money to buy and build deadly bombs...with no visible means of support. Monthly welfare check would not suffice---they had to have several other sources of income.

A look at Tamerlan's reading list on Amazon shows he researched forging phony identities---a practice very common in the latino community.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/registry.html?ie=UTF8&type=wishlist&id=1PNVMAW2D4CT1

======================================

NJ BERGEN RECORD CIRCA 2004---Pelcastre brothers, Angel and Jorge, Dallas, Texas, were a walking threat to US national security, expert document forgers who, for a few thousand dollars, could give anyone a new identity (many latinos establish multiple identities in order to ride the US gravy train).

The Texas brothers were a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of fake US documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, driver's licenses----for any state in the US------ passports and resident alien cards, said NJ state police.

The Texas brothers turned a NJ hotel room into a business office and were readying a massive cache of fake Social Security cards for delivery to a local NJ identity broker. Officers happened upon two cars bearing Texas plates in a NJ hotel parking lot.

The Texas brothers were followed to a NJ office supply store nearby where they purchased computer supplies. Officers then followed the Texans to a NJ storage facility in Secaucus, NJ, where the Texans loaded several boxes into a car. One of them stood lookout. After a search, police recovered laminating sheets with built-in security features, pages of blank documents waiting for fake names and information, finished documents, computers and software to create the fake IDs.

All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street when sold to "impoverished illegals." Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a NJ fake document broker for a shipment of 500 phony Social Security cards. ####

Several year ago, a TV report concerned a US Post Office somewhere near the Mexican border that was used by illegals to send money home. It was so busy the US Govt. put in several trailers to handle the business.

===========================================

The Third World knows massive financial benefits would derive from "immigration reform"......Third world pressure groups exchanging votes for foreign aid---zillions of us tax dollars going straight into the pockets of corrupt third world federales.

THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES W/ PRESSURE GROUPS IN THE US (here illegally sending billions back home): Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico (stateside), Salvador, Spain, Uruguay, Venezuela.
