Middle School Changes Policy After Student Sent to Office
The Blaze ^ | April 24, 2013 | Madeleine Morgenstern

Posted on 04/24/2013 4:16:18 PM PDT by Altariel

A Kentucky middle school has changed its dress code after a student was sent to the office for wearing a “Support Our Troops” T-shirt, a spokeswoman told TheBlaze.

That school would be Mahaffey Middle School, which is actually located on the Fort Campbell Army base.

Student Cejai Taylor told Nashville Fox affiliate WZTV she wore the T-shirt right after her dad, Sgt. James Taylor, was sent on his sixth deployment overseas. Mahaffey requires all students to wear collared shirts, but has dress-down days once a month where they can wear jeans and school-approved shirts. The “Support Our Troops” shirt was not approved, and a teacher saw Taylor wearing it and told her to go to the office.

Her mother, Cassandra Taylor, said she chose to pick her daughter up from school instead of making her change her clothes.

“I’m not going to make her change, she’s standing her ground and as her mother and as a military wife I support my child,” Cassandra Taylor said. “It’s a military school on a military base.”

Cindy Gibson, a spokeswoman for the Department of Defense education system, told TheBlaze on Wednesday that “patriotic T-shirts” will now be permitted on dress-down days.

“We’ve incorporated patriotic T-shirts [into the dress code]“, Gibson said.

Yeah, I realized, after someone corrected me that I skimmed the article and did not get the real story. School was at fault.

Sent to tbe office for wearing a “Support The Troops” t-shirt. Would they have done this if he’d worn a “Supprt Transsexual Adoptive Parents on Welfare” t-shirt?

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

It works for me.

Rules are everything. Can’t think for yourself! No, the rules don’t allow it.

You just can’t make this stuff up. Quick! Someone cue the “but my school is a GOOD government school” apologists!

How many stories are out there detailing the latest abuses and yet how many people still send their kids to these places?

I have a word that describes parents who have the ability to send their kids elsewhere yet don’t: complicit.

No, I wasn’t. I received a ping to it just the other day and had about 12 arth articles to ping, so just went through them and did them all.

Teachers and education bureaucrats like this all need to be fired with no pensions.

Disgusting pieces of human scum.

Or, “my teacher is good” crap.

Or like when Congress gets less than 20% approval ratings but incumbents win reelection in droves. “Oh, it’s not my Congressman that is the problem”.

“Let’s have that teacher’s name and contact info. They need a lesson in the price of freedom.”

Absolutely. People like this need to understand the folly of their ways. And to understand THEY are the ones in the minority, not patriots.

Parents need to take the schools back ...
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Please reconsider this position. Please.

The socialist-entitlement, single-payer, and compulsory COLLECTIVIST schools must be SHUT DOWN. Why?

Answer: Because, fundamentally, modern government schooling is, and **always** has been, a socialist-entitlement, collectivist, single-payer, and compulsory-use program. Built on such a foundation it was **inevitable** that this collectivist system of schooling would give the nation Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnson, Clinton, and now Obama and every other social ill we not are burdened with.

Single-payer, socialist-entitlement, collectivist, and compulsory police enforced programs can NOT NOT NOT NOT be “taken back” or reformed. Government schooling isn't any different. It must be abolished and replaced with a completely private system.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I have complete contempt for the employees of these socialist-entitlement, collectivist, and single-payer indoctrination camps. They are complicit as well. More so than the parents.

When sweet little Mrs. Honey Bun ( who is the church choir director) teaches at the local socialist-entitlement and collectivist school, she beguiles naive and inexperienced parents. Hey! Their local socialist-entitlement and collectivist school can’t be **that** bad! Hey! Sweet Mrs. Honey Bun ( who loves her garden) works there.

Personally, I have made a decision. I will NOT have a socialist-entitlement and collectivist school teacher for a friend. I SHUN THEM! I don’t have abortion workers for friends either.
