The new owners of Hostess are starting up production again. But there's no mention of labor unions.

The maker of Twinkies and Ding Dongs was involved in a crippling labor dispute last year, ultimately leading to the company shutting down and selling its assets. Roughly 15,000 of 18,500 employees lost their jobs.

Twinkies' future could be union-free

The previous owner did not go into liquidation, and the buyers of the brand did not put out good money just to re-open using union employees again.

Don’t Canadian Twinkies contain cheese curd?
Or is it back-bacon??

Just watch former Hostess employees weasel their way in and use subversive tactics to make it a union shop once again.

What was very interesting about this is on the surface it was Unions being stupid and voting themselves out of a job. However, below the surface, this was a case of Unions fighting each other. The Bakers felt they were being asked to give up more than the teamsters. Their point was Hostess was producing product profitably, but the old infrastructure and logistic costs were destroying the company. The restructure plan in Bankruptcy several years ago did not solve this problem and the proposed restructure plan was more of the same. This is because the Teamsters budged very little.

Don't get me wrong, I think they all idiots. However, if some of the Bakers are hired back without Union jobs they are in the same position without the Teamsters screwing the company. I also enjoy the Brotherhood of Unions fighting each other..

In that case management should let them know that Mexico is ready when they are.

Or Canada. A few American candy companies shifted their production here because sugar is so much cheaper.
