Inhofe, Lucas Introduce Bill Limiting Federal Agencies From Stockpiling Ammunition
Office of James Inhofe ^ | April 26, 2013

Posted on 04/26/2013 10:17:58 AM PDT by yoe

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Congressman Frank Lucas (R-OK-3) today introduced in their respective chambers the Ammunition Management for More Obtainability (AMMO) Act of 2013.

[snip] "President Obama has been adamant about curbing law-abiding Americans’ access and opportunities to exercise their Second Amendment rights," said Inhofe. "One way the Obama Administration is able to do this is by limiting what’s available in the market with federal agencies purchasing unnecessary stockpiles of ammunition. As the public learned in a House committee hearing this week, the Department of Homeland Security has two years worth of ammo on hand and allots nearly 1,000 more rounds of ammunition for DHS officers than is used on average by our Army officers. The AMMO Act of 2013 will enforce transparency and accountability of federal agencies’ ammunition supply while also protecting law-abiding citizens access to these resources.”

This Ammunition Management for More Obtainability (AMMO) Act of 2013 should be brought to the attention of ....this is an important piece of legislation that I feel sure will have trouble from the Left. Help Senator Inhofe and Rep. Lucas get this passed.

Stockpiling should be BANNED! It’s unconstitutional to have a standing army during peacetime, and Obama seems intent on forcing us into “peace” by drawing down around the world. No Army, no Navy, NO DHS!

Thank you Senators! I also hope that the bill calls for the ammo purchased to be taken from DHS and given to our military.

Maybe we could ban the practice of giving bills juvenile names, too.

All that ammo and I bet they haven’t shot one single person who was attacking our border.

There should be corpses piled up along the southern border if they were doing their job at all.

How about getting these dangerous central socialist government agencies to release these senseless stockpiles on the market?

It is unconstitutional to infringe on the constitution by a secondary means(gun control by limiting ammunition) that has been upheld by the Supreme Court. Why is it congress doesn’t know this and I do? (Maybe they should more time listening to Mark Levin?)

We know that’s what’s going on. Obama even told that woman last year that they’re going to achieve gun control behind the scenes. This is how they’re doing it. By limiting availability of ammo through overpurchasing, they are making it impossible to stay “well regulated” per the 2A. As a result, their overbuying of ammo is unconstitutional.

Well I’m glad some of our legislators are at least trying.

I would have more respect for people introducing bills if they didn’t try to force a clever acronym in the process.

“Well I’m glad some of our legislators are at least trying.”

Yeah, me too, but unless they make a stink about what they are doing, it won’t do any good. BTW, the ammo problem isn’t the government drying up the supply, it’s the citizens panic buying that’s causing the problem. From what I have read, the government has renewed their contracts, but they are not actually taking large quantities that the contracts allow. It’s the “folks” who are causing the shortages. If I am wrong, the ammo mfrs. should be letting us know the real situation.

Due to the law of unintended consequences, the DHS scheme has caused ammunition manufacturers to ramp up production and increase their manufacturing capacity. In the long run this will make Ammo more available and in greater quantities at a lower price. Like pretty much everything Bozon does, it backfires on his intent.
