ROCKUMENTARY: APRIL 27, 1975

Where were you on Sunday, April 27, 1975?

My radio career had experienced a meteoric rise followed by an equally meteoric fall. Now I was working an entry level job in computers, and the exciting years of life were no more. It was time for a long grind that lasted over 30 years.

Let’s cue the Rockumentary theme!

San Remo Golden Strings: “Festival Time”

This debuted at #86 on the charts, and it would sit at #1 for a long time, becoming the biggest selling single of the year. It marked the return of Neil Sedaka as a songwriter after over a decade of silence.

Captain & Tennille: “Love Will Keep Us Together”

My Father told me their favorite song was “Lili Marlene”, even if was sung by a German woman.

He also said, Stars and Stripes did a poll among the soldiers and Roy Acuff was the favorite and by a good margin.

Hispanic country? Yes. If the black Charlie Pride could make it in Country, so could the Hispanic Freddy Fender. It came in at #8 this week.
