New Jersey 2nd-grade teacher fired for making students empty bottles of his urine
New York Daily News ^ | 4/26/2013 | Lee Moran

Wheelchair-bound Ron Tuitt, 56, a Paterson, N.J. second-grade teacher who peed into bottles that he then had students take to the bathroom to be flushed has been fired.

Wheelchair-bound Ron Tuitt, 56, would ask his second-grade class to close their eyes as he urinated into the container.

Once it was full, he would choose a child to take it to the restroom to be emptied.

He also forced students to go on personal errands, let them sit in his chair and sent parents inappropriate emails.

It led to Tuitt — a teacher with more than 20 years' experience who is in a chair due to severe leg swelling from lymphedema — being dismissed from School 13 in Paterson.

Court documents claimed Tuitt asked students to empty the bottle at least three times a week between 2006 and 2011.

He denied some of the charges made against him, but confessed to others saying that it was because he was ill.

Peter Tirri, president of the city's teachers union, said Tuitt was being treated unfairly because School 13 principal Michelle James did not like his popularity with the students.

"This should have never happened to Ron Tuitt. It's absurd for him to go through all this and lose his job," Tirri told New Jersey.com. But State Education Commissioner Christopher Cerf approved the firing, and Tuitt was officially dismissed on April 18.

Will he file a lawsuit under the Americans with Disabilities Act? This clown appears to be in a wheelchair because he's too damned fat.

Jesse Jackson will lead a march to obtain justice for Pete. Jesse's been peeing on America most of his life.

He’s probably dumber than batsh-t and he can only teach those at his intellectual level. He’s just an obese, ignorant fool who is possibly retarded.

Many of today’s teachers are.

EEEUUUU. Guess school administrators wanted him to count as a double on their EEOC checklist so it was okay till some of the sharper kids blabbed to their parents. Our public schools are the most expensive child abuse centers in the world.

So he could wheel himself to class and home again, but not to a bathroom? I don’t know about NJ but every Kindergarten classroom my children were in or I was a substitute teacher in had a private bathroom (or shared with a classroom next door). He couldn’t wheel over to the bathroom for a minute to pee and pour it out himself? How disgusting

He looks like a member of a politically protected class. I am shocked he was fired.

He should have emptied the bottles himself. He can't use the excuse of never getting one of these. He is one of these.

I’d like to see a lot more men teaching in elementary school. So far, all I’ve seen are ninny women which isn’t a good ongoing influence for young boys. Who knows what kind of influence this guy was on his students? Good and bad everywhere, but on the basic question of men teaching 2nd grade, that’s not such a bad thing in general.

Peter Tirri, president of the city's teachers union, said Tuitt was being treated unfairly

Just ONCE, before I go, dear God, let me read where a union reps says something like, "The authorities were correct in firing this man. This is beyond the pale."

Yeah, I know, I know.
