Langston Bowens is a high school senior at Grosse Pointe South in Michigan, and helped arrange for Sen. Rick Santorum to speak at his school. But a funny thing happened after the speech was announced: School district officials changed their minds and cancelled the event. The story may have ended there, but Langston Bowens refused to be bullied by officials he felt objected to the speech based on their own, personal beliefs, so he took a stand. Col. Allen West sat down with Langston at the Reagan Center library in Santa Barbara to find out how he was able to challenge the system...and win.

I'm guessing no permission would be required to hear lord Obama speak.

May Langston be the inspiration for us conservatives to fight these liberal nazis to the death (of liberalism of course).

This goes to the heart of one of my personal crusades.

All art, music, science, medicine etc is judged on the beliefs of the creator regardless of the quality or value of the work. Imagine if Jonas Salk’s polio vaccine had been ignored because he held a pro life stance or Van Gogh ignored for supporting the 2nd amendment.

The left are increasingly brutal totalitarians.

I know that Steven Hawking doesn’t believe in God but I thank God for Steven Hawking and his incredible brilliance.

Prof. Hawking believes in God , he is just angry with him for trapping that brilliant mind in that failing body.

I saw Langston interviewed on TV. For a high school kid, this kid was sharp, dressed in a suit coat and very professional. Plus he is black.......which really surprised me because Grosse Pointe South is close to the border of Detroit on the east side and while the Pointes are very upscale, there’s a hell of a lot of liberals that live there........

He is also more articulate than a lot of our present members of Congress and even Obama when he isn’t able to read from his teleprompter or a written speech.

Apparently he is planning to get a Master’s in Economics at Hillsdale but is thinking about running for a local office. Glad to see him making contact with West - I would like to hope that West keeps track of him.

Thought it interesting that one of the four this young man suggested for their speaker was Rove. Too bad Cain initially declined - would have been interesting to see if the school officials would have ended up saying no to him also.

Remarkable young man, hope his convictions are as strong or stronger in four years after he has had an opportunity to get out into the world where his problems will be many.

Are you crazy? Bachelor’s degrees are worthless today. You better have at least a Master’s to be competitive today. I know FREEPERS like you hate education but come on. This kid needs to continue on. I hope him the best!!!!!

He’s the perfect example of the kind of kid who should go to college. Its the bulk of the other students who should be in trade school and apprenticeships.

I seem to recall a recent story about a Texas High School that required students to attend a Ayers speech and if the parent wanted them exempted, then the parents had to sign a slip to get their child excused from attending.

I can’t find a source tho, so my memory might be playing tricks on me.
