No One's Paying Attention to Michele Bachmann on Immigration This Time
ATlantic Wire ^ | April 15, 2013 | Elspeth Reeve

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio went on seven Sunday talk shows to pitch a bipartisan immigration reform deal, while a handful of Republican lawmakers famous for their wacky cable news interviews can’t get any attention. An anti-immigration “gang of six” in the House is trying to stop the pro-immigration “gang of eight” in the Senate, The National Review’s Robert Costa reports, but hardly anyone’s listening. The six are cable TV favorites: Minnesota’s Michele Bachmann, Iowa’s Steve King, Texas’ Louie Gohmert, Alabama’s Mo Brooks, Pennsylvania’s Lou Barletta, and California’s Dana Rohrabacher. There were zero “anti-amnesty” Sunday show guests the week before Rubio’s grand tour. The most popular cable guests of the six — Bachmann, King, and Gohmert — haven’t been invited on cable to talk immigration in the last three months, according to Lexis Nexis. They complain the GOP isn’t listening to them either.

“The meetings of the Gang of Eight and the secret meetings in the House of Representatives — the people who have been standing up for the Constitution and the rule of law haven’t been invited to those meetings,” King tells the assembled group of reporters...

“We’ve got all the rich guys and the elitists talking to each other,” Rohrabacher says. “Unfortunately us regular folks don’t have that kind of coordination.”

The Daily Caller’s Mickey Kaus lamented last week that in the Sunday political talk shows, the networks didn’t even haul in “the kookiest anti-amnesty crackpot.” The GOP doesn’t want to hear from the kooks either.

The McCain, Rubio, Norquist, Conda Amnesty train will not allow any opposition to be heard. They've got the media, just like the left does. "Marginalize" the opposition is what Norquist preaches and THAT should bother all of you!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3009500/posts?page=1#1

And he even hijacks Ronald Regan to do it!

[snip]"In an unlikely pairing, renowned anti-tax activist Grover Norquist stood alongside AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, the leader of the nation's largest labor coalition. Senators from both parties yukked it up with jokes throughout the hour-long affair.

After the conference ended, Norquist predicted the Gang of Eight would succeed, arguing that opponents like Sessions and Vitter, who sunk the last immigration bill in 2007, have been marginalized.

Restrictionists, Norquist said, are people who merely "think of themselves as conservatives."

"If you're a Republican, you look at the business community wants it, the religious community wants it," he told reporters. "Who is the opposition? Who in the modern Reagan Republican Party is a no?"

Sadly, the GOP grandees see immigration as a political issue rather than a constitutional issue and a sovereignty issue. It is not something to be negotiated for votes on some spending bill, it is bedrock principle.

Immigration policy must first, foremost, and always serve the interests of citizens.

Immigration, if it is allowed, should never be allowed in numbers large enough for colonies to form; it should always be limited to numbers that will assimilate. Cultures and nations of origin that do not easily assimilate should be even more limited than those who do easily assimilate.

Immigrants should be chosen based on their willingness and desire to be us, and their capacity to contribute to the country. It should exclude explicitly people who do not want to be “us” and people who are takers.

Immigration policy should never be designed in secret (as in fact it has always been), and it should never be designed for the purpose of fine-tuning wage rates or voter demographics.

The media seems pleased they’re having a debate and inviting only one side of the issue to speak.

Michelle Bachman has more courage than most of her peers.

Rubio is paying attention to her, and taking every opportunity to smear and ridicule her that he can. He is the scum that floats to the top of a pond, then evaporates to leave a nasty death-dealing matt atop what was a habitat for healthy things before he pissed int he pool.

Another Florida voter putting in her two cents, friend....and I'll not only not vote for Rubio, but I'll actively campaign against him if there's hopefully a Tea Party-type primary candidate taking him on.

By the way has anyone noticed that Rubio and his RINO Gang of Hate are purposely employing Saul Alinsky's rule #12 against Congresswoman Bachman?.... i.e., "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works."

If Rubio was a legit conservative, he'd be employing these radical tactics against Schmucky Schumer and John McInsane...correct?

Bachman is raising a very, very important and serious concern

if Rubio wants more support for his immigration proposals ... he’d be well advised to listen to Bachmann and figure out a way to send the Islamicists who’ve gotten into USA these past few years, out.

It’s intersting how some of these politicians were elected under the presumed monicker of “tea party” yet they now seem to be more than willing to be come Judas Iscariot types. Toomey and Rubio make such a great pair.

This is an extremely biased report from ELSPETH — who sounds like pointy-head liberal moron who was probably tormented by normal boys and girls when he was a small lizard. This debate has barely begun. Believe, ELSETH, we will be hearing from Michelle Bachmann. We’re already hearing great attacks on the Gang of 8 from Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin, and Ann Coulter — they are getting PLENTY of attention, ELSPETH!

The “estblishment” gang completely hung her out to dry. I’m remembering that. Tea Party people ONLY get my $$’s.

Ironic that the Republicans are pushing this, since it virtually guarantees they’ll never win another election for the foreseeable future.

In fact, with tens of millions of new Democrats in the US, it’s tantamount to political suicide.

Working Americans, meanwhile, will be stuck with the bill for all the benefits that’ll be paid out.

Hopefully, the GOOBers will be able to get one of their Freeway to Amnesty types to vote for them this time. I won’t be. I know others who feel the same way.

I have never seen so much anti-conservatism, and both sides are piling on! I guess the “elites” have decided that they like the camaraderie of the left more than their base. Let’s see how well this plays out in the 2014 elections. We need to make a HUGE statement by primarying dozens upon of them!
