A Typo Keeps FAA Air Traffic Furloughs From Ending, President Obama Waits For Correction to Sign

A typo is keeping President Obama from signing legislation designed to end budget-related FAA air traffic controller furloughs blamed for widespread flight delays, a congressional source told CNN Saturday.

But the fix is going into effect anyway, and the system will be back to normal by Sunday, the FAA said.

Apparently the holdup boils down to an "s" needing to be added somewhere in the Senate version of the bill -- it's not clear which word is the culprit.

The House fixed the typo in the version it passed Friday, and the Senate plans to fix it on Tuesday, a senior House GOP aide told CNN. The FAA "is not impacted," the source said.

He thinks EVERYONE is stupid.

I am baffled that I've heard no one in the media, NO ONE at all, state the obvious fact that this whole sequester fiasco is a living example of how inept government is at making decisions that benefit the public.

A primary function of government is looking out for the welfare of the people, yet to bolster their blatant lie of budget shortfalls they endanger and inconvenience the public instead of giving some time off to useless bureaucrats and "non essential" union employees.

Our government of, by and for the people does seem to be preoccupied with the welfare of foreign-national home-invader squatters and assorted Muslim “asylum-seekers.”

but you miss the point of the sequester. Obama suggested it as a poison pill. It was DESIGNED to make across-the-board brainless cuts that would be guaranteed to cause pain. Consider it zero-tolerance budgeting.

Now, Lord knows what the Republicans were thinking, probably that the cuts would be so bad no sane person would let them stand so the RATs would want to negotiate. And the pubbies went along with just the tax increase (AGAIN, the fools), expecting the cuts to come next because there was the horror of the sequester on the horizon.

OTOH, the RATs were peeing themselves laughing because they knew there would be no negotiating and that every little bad thing could be blamed on the republicans.

Now, perhaps the RATs overplayed their hand. Maybe they didn't expect Boehner to cave so quickly on the tax increase. Maybe they went to the well once too many times. Maybe they were so overconfident that they forgot how transparent the scheme would be. They surely did not like for word to get out that this was simply a cut in the rate of increase.

But leave it to the republicans to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. Instead of a bandaid on the air traffic problem, they should have pushed for a total solution. Not eliminating the sequester but rather eliminating the no-brains across-the-board cut thing, making Cabinet Secretaries completely responsible for deciding where the cuts would land, putting the Executive on the hook for governing wisely.

The biggest failing of the congressional republicans is that they are still letting the idea that this is about "Cutting back" be spread to low information voters.

This is NOT a cut; its a reduction in projected increases.

I don’t think money was involved. I think they reconfigured the budget.

Who says extortion and terror tactics don't work? Congress has passed legislation to direct money to the Union FAA and allow them to use their money any way they choose!

Yes sir! Extortion and terror tactics from this administration work real well in getting congress to pass laws to thwart the sequester that Obama and his communist dreamed up in the first place!
