Gay player could score big
Boston Herald ^ | April 28, 2013 | Marie Szaniszlo

The first openly gay man in a major American team sport may turn out to be former Middle Tennessee State kicker Alan Gendreau, who hopes to get a shot at the NFL this year. And, if he’s successful, that could translate into millions of dollars in endorsements and speaking engagements, experts say.

Whether it’s the Sun Belt Conference’s leading scorer or someone else, the athlete who makes sports history by coming out will likely be sought after by companies that want to appeal to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population, whose annual buying power last year was estimated at $790 billion, said Bob Witeck, president of Witech Communications in Washington, D.C.

That’s ALL that matters to most of them is that EVERYBODY know they’re GAY and accept it.

This guy wants to be known as a GAY football player—well, kicker, NOT really a player— instead of a football player who HAPPENS to be gay.

That’s a sure way to get in the HOF, if he is a bad kicker(I was gonna say ‘if he sucks...” but he’s GAY and that’s what they do.

Also what happens if he misses 10-15 in a row and they bench him, will they be called homophobs?

The NFL says Tebow can’t put Bible versus on his face black but they want to make a queer a star and trot him around like a prize hog at the State Fair.

Another reason to ignore the NFL.

Before any business makes use of a gay spokesperson again, I would think it would be wise to consider how well that worked out for J.C. Penny with Ellen DeGeneres.

Actually, this kind of thing will not be a plus. It most likely will cause people to decide football is officially over.

Which is what they want.

There's that Democrat math again. There's no way freaks have disposable income like that. Maybe by buying power they mean they have the power to leverage up $790 billion in taxpayer financed mortgages and lesbian studies college loans to default on.

Can the buying power of those opposed to homosexuality be estimated?

I hope some normal non-gay guy comes out as gay and scoops up the millions in endorsements. Then a few years down the road he marries his girlfriend in church and gives all the libs conniption fits

Ellen Degeneres was a lot funnier when she was a professional comedian who happened to also be a lesbian. She became a lot less funny when she turned into a professional lesbian who happened to be a comedian.

No. Central Florida's Alan Gendreau would love to be in the middle of all the commotion. It's a long shot. Big time. He is an undrafted kicker — about as low as you can go in the NFL pecking order — who last played for Middle Tennessee State in the 2012 season. He is currently working for a real-estate company in Washington, D.C.

I would think that most teams would shy away from him based on the simple fact that he would be a huge distraction.

will likely be sought after by companies that want to appeal to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population

And those same companies may find themselves boycotted by the traditional values crowd from coast to coast who don't like seeing the lavender mafia mock traditional families and funneling corporate dollars to politically active liberal agenda organizations.

That's a lot of money from 2% of 300million (6 million pepople spending 790billion dollars = $131,666.666 per person spent annually). Smells like lavender mafia Bullstalin to me. What is the market share of the heterosexual public and why don't the liberal socialists in corporate America care about their TRILLIONS of spending dollars?
