After days of tough talk from the White House regarding Syria's use of chemical weapons, State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell emerged on April 26 to say no action will be taken against the country based on "intelligence assessments" until the administration can "corroborate the facts."
He said, despite reports announcing intelligence assessments that show chemical weapons have been used--even the assessments released by the State Department on April 25--there is not enough evidence to act.
A reporter ... asked Ventrell: "... why make it public?"
Ventrell said it was, "an administrative decision to respond in a public fashion." He then reminded the questioner that, "intelligence assessments when it comes to WMD" have been questionable in the past.
And Ventrell wouldn't even confirm that the U.S. will act against Syria .......

WH: "We Don't Know. Let me walk back what I said (re: game changer)."
Perhaps this is going against the grain, but I see this as a plus. IMHO, we should stay out and let the moslem bastards kill each other at will. The more the better.
WH not sure it can find its backside with both hands.
What happened to his red line? I think they just shoved it down the cowards throat.
Agreed, let Syria burn.
I agree with you.
But the issue here is not “just Syria”.
There is no "good" side in Syria. I don't want to get involved either. It's good that Obama looks foolish walking back his "red line" comments, but I hope he does nothing. No good is going to come out of US intervention in Syria.
I agree with you that we should just stay out of this, but I must say that I wish he was this big of a blow hard with us as he is with the rest of the world.
OK, obviously since we cannot trust the intelligence services to get it right, I think the only way to get this done is for the CIC himself to go there on a fact finding study. Surly he is loved enough in the mid eastern community to be safe. Put some long robes on him and a headress on top of a camel and send him off from Lebonon.
But the issue here is not just Syria.
Absolutely correct. He should have never mouthed off about his "Red Line" unless he was prepared to back it up. Will North Korea take him seriously if he draws a "Red Line" with them? Will Iran? Will China?

I agree we should’ve never become involved. The main issue is the total loss of any credibility because we don’t mean what we say.
Hagel went off the reservation on this, gotta walk it back.
That was what Ventrell said -
Obama said ‘red line’ but he didn’t mean it.
Just imagine where this would have gone if it had been Israel that had been accused of using chemical weapons.
bama said red line but he didnt mean it.

The only thing the coward in the WH is sure of is the fact that he wants this nation destroyed. Nixon did far less and he was impeached.
You hit the nail on the head. I predict that this comment will lead to lil Kim launching another rocket. Probably within weeks.
Then what is the “Muslim Socialist” going to do?
“ummm ummm ummm”
Millions will die due to our populist Presidents lack of male parts.
They’ll only be sure Iran has the bomb when there is a mushroom cloud over Tel Aviv.
