I am curious what effect Broadway playwright David Mamet has on these folks since his revelation in 2008?

The same effect that Tom Stoppard’s conservatism has had: they both get ruthlessly attacked. Two of the very best playwrights of the past 50 years are politically conservative. Harold Pinter wasn’t fit to reboot their word processors.
