Can someone explain why we mostly argue about what is the source of the “shortages”? Is it the federales insatiable buying or is it US, buying all we can get our hands on? And we go on and on this way.

When I want to know what gives, with the federales using our tax dollars as well as money borrowed from China, et al, to stockpile armaments and ammo.

WHAT GIVES?

WHY are they doing it?

WHERE IS THEIR AUTHORITY FOR DOING IT??

WHAT ARE THEIR CLAIMED ANSWERS?

WHAT IS THE REAL TRUTH???

And in connection with my previous post, I have this thought: How dare we let them get away with doing this without their having to answer to anyone, while at the same time we are fighting an attempt to “background check” us into obliteration of our rights, under cover of law.

We have a great story to tell, and we’re not telling it. On the one hand we have the federales wanton buying and stockpiling, with no control or answers, on the other hand we’re being attacked with attempts to make US answerable for each little transaction we as individuals make. HUH??

Am I getting through to anyone out there?

The two things should be linked: Hey Manchin, Toomney, Schumer, DIFI, et al, stop the federales from doing this, investigate them for doing it, make them answerable, shut them down, etc etc, and leave us the **** alone.

If what we’re doing is Constitutional and as I suspect, what they’re doing isn’t, then STOP ignoring them and STOP harassing us!!!

So contrary to recent reports denying the stockpiling of ammo...even representatives are concerned.

I will of course be flamed for this, but Inhofe and Lucas are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, and this bill is also political pandering to the people who got suckered into the DHS ammo panic.

Expansion in ammunition production is not happening much because of the regulations legislated and enforced by the political/regulator class. The AMMO Act would also have the effect of muzzling the contemporary paradigm of campaigns of hysteria and panic unleashed by spoiled hags running useless offices obese with debt/revenues. Besides, there’s no shortage of demand.

It appears in reality, though, that the Dept. of Hag Scholars has been stocking up for "SHTF," "TEOTWAWKI," waves of attacking veteran/redneck "zombies" of the "patriarchy" and all of that.

From the article, "In fiscal year 2012, DHS says it bought about 103 million bullets for $36.5 million, giving the department a total of about 246 million rounds stockpiled for training and operational use." It appears that some ladies in Democrat government are paranoid and freaking out.

The bill "would prohibit every government agency — except the military — from buying more ammunition each month, than the monthly average it purchased from 2001 to 2009." That's not so unreasonable. More now than ever, government spending needs to be cut, and government waste should be cut first.

Most of the panic was caused by the civilian hysteria in, and emanating from, the offices rightly in question. Fears of large parts of our law-abiding American population were published in strange projections against healthier folks (abnormal fears of veterans, religious people, patriotic Americans,...). Threats have been implied against the American population without explanation or apology. There might be a clue for a more in-depth analysis of today's false security bureaucracy in the following.

We cannot win a war waged against our western culture and religions with civilian police work alone. Fighting men in military forces are needed for that. The following is a good account of how such a war can be won.

Let's see. How can I go easy with this? Naw! Just look the other way, if it's too ugly. ;-)

Without the current regulations--even in the middle of nowhere--against new, small manufacturing shops, the folks who sign their lives away on the nifty girls' machines of today would be buried by real competition.

Everyone: avoid buying anything that you don't really need. Plan or do something each month to become more self-sufficient. Manufacture something useful as a hobby for now.

I should let you know, though, that I really do generally like contemporary U.S. manufacturers (manufacturing on U.S. soil—not only U.S. “based”) and hope that they do well (especially you, if you’re in it). We should see much more domestic competition, though, in my opinion. Competition is healthy for business and good for the economy (what our great-grandparents in business said: something we no longer hear). Bowing to foreign competition and surrendering, as we have as a nation, is abominable.

I agree, even after posting comments that might seem contrary. Too many consumers have taken hyperbolic bait from television, publications of all kinds, tales of false, hysterical plans to spy, control, etc., disseminated by fearful individuals in government offices, the same from NGOs, conspiracy story tellers, and several kinds of crooks manipulating markets.

There's no innocent side in the cat fight. All have spread panic and hysteria.

About a year ago, .22LR was going for about 4 cents a round and 45 Colt was going for 75 cents a round (buying factory ammo).

I can now reload 45 Colt for about the same cost as .22LR.

How times have changed.

I was going to buy 2 pounds of powder this weekend. Then, I recalled the story about background checks being discussed in DC. And so I bought 2 more.

Multiple that anecdotal evidence by many millions and you get the situation we currently have.

Actually, it's very unreasonable, since there are more agents/officers now than between 2001 and 2009. If you wish to take away ammo from the Border Patrol, then feel free to push and vote for this BS.

I don't, and the Border Patrol should well supplied. At the same time, it's not good for the Border Patrol to be subjugated in some ways to the more out-of-touch political offices that have been implying false tales about implementing hysterical policies that provoke distrust--policies that aren't even going to be implemented.

They shouldn't even be allowing such tales to fly by issuing generalities to other offices and letting them ferment later among tellers of conspiracy tales. Us-against-them policy doesn't work. I would like to see better public affairs work from DHS, or our Government should give the work of DHS to the U.S. Army.

The world is not going to end by some natural disaster (global warming: one of several examples), although more attention should be given to defense. We're not going to run out of food. There won't be any roundup against veterans, Christians, etc. There won't be any "30,000 drones" watching the American population. The government won't be attacked by zombies. The people that government should be serving won't be attacked by zombies, although laid off government employees might start some minor riots (as seen in Greece, etc.).
