The U.S. government had the ability to “react and respond” to the Benghazi terrorist attack and could have had forces on the ground before the second wave of the assault began, a special operator with knowledge of the response told Fox News in an exclusive interview. Due to the explosive nature of his allegations, the special ops member asked to remain anonymous.

“I know for a fact that C 110 the UComm CIF was doing a training exercise, not in the region of northern Africa, but in Europe. And they had the ability to react and respond,” he told Fox News.

The C 110 is a 40-man Special Ops force capable of rapid response and deployment, a group trained specifically for an event like the Benghazi attack, Fox News reports. The unit was training in Croatia on Sept. 11, 2012, just 3.5 hours away from Benghazi.

“They would have been there before the second attack,” the anonymous special operator said. “They would have been there at a minimum to provide a quick reaction force that could facilitate their exfil out of the problem situation.”

He continued: “Nobody knew how it was going to develop, and you hear a whole bunch of people and a whole bunch of advisors say, ‘Hey, we wouldn’t have sent them there because the security was unknown situation.’ If it’s an unknown situation, at a minimum you send forces there to facilitate the exfil or medical injuries. We could have sent a C 130 to Benghazi to provide medical evacuation for the injured.”

The special operator said there are members of special ops and other officials who are still active and involved in the situation. “They would be decapitated if they came forward with information that could affect high-level commanders,” he added.

While he says he doesn’t “blame them for not coming forward,” the special operator said members of the community feel betrayed and believe the betrayal goes all the way to the top. Further, the Special Ops community feels like the Americans in Benghazi were left to fend for themselves.

The White House has said from the beginning that there were no forces available to assist Americans in Benghazi on Sept. 11.

I agree that there was a derilection of duty. However, the attacks happened in the afternoon Eastern time zone. Unless Obama goes to bed before the sunset in DC, that accusation makes no sense.

I vote NO. Let us give the good Colonel some time. It may turn out he is as much a conservative patriot as any of us.
I can think back in the first days I joined this site and delved into why our Army and Marines where not ably protected in the ground vehicles such as HUMVEES in particular, for the end result being I convinced quite a few folks with facts as how over time the type steel was no longer available in stocks in American fonderies.
FR did not boot me off as a noobe at that point. I seem to still be around.
Give him a chance. Some of what he said many of us would echo, in how our troops should not be used with such cavalier abandonment.
Let us give the Colonel some time to fit in and converse with fact based arguments as to where this will all lead.
You all did not call for me to get the axe, after I made a number of informed statements as how long it would actually take a F16 fully loaded with AG weapons to take off from Signolla and hover over the Annex area, after a things where produced no one later disputed.
If the good Colonel is one of us, then legit discourse will come along. He will have a chance to dispute what others bring forth, and vice versa.

On Foxnews the intervuee, said their was a C-120 unit train in Crochia at the time. I think a 40 man unit.

Right. He also said they could have been there in 4-5 hours max. Early reports last fall were that such a team had been moved from a base in Germany and was on the tarmax at Sigonella awaiting orders.

Yes, he probably meant the gunship but a C-130 could also be used for an air drop or landing on a rough airstrip so it could have been used both for troop insertion and an evac.
