New Jersey Couple Indicted On Charges Of ‘Unimaginable Cruelty’ Toward Adopted Children

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ (CBS) – A United States Army major and his wife are facing charges for the alleged abuse of their three adopted children, including one who died in May 2008.

A 17-count indictment released Tuesday charges Army Maj. John Jackson, and his wife, Carolyn, with neglect, abuse, cruelty, and torture. The couple, who live in Mount Holly, are behind bars.

From about August 2005 until April 23, 2010, Carolyn Jackson, 35, and John E. Jackson, 37, formerly of the Picatinny Arsenal Installation in Morris County, NJ reportedly abused the three juveniles by breaking their bones, denying them medical attention and withholding water and force-feeding them hot sauce.

The Jacksons’ three biological children were told not to report the assaults to others, and that the abuse was “justified,” as their parents were “training” the adopted children how to behave.

Not fit to continue living. Ex-Army or not. Gallows in the public square would be suitable. Double nooses at noon. Unless king hussein intervenes and admonishes us to not judge before we have all the facts.

It’s hard to believe something like this — that people could be so mean and cruel, but a couple husband and wife being so mean and cruel together?

Speechless.

Prayers for these kids that the physical and psychological damage isn't permanent and they end up with parents whos genuine love will make up for this travesty.

My gut was that this was unspeakable.

Same reaction when I heard about the Trayvon case.

The only thing that stands out here is broken bones. The death raises eyebrows.

Given the context of old-fashioned methods of discipline, now I have to wonder if the bone troubles are something else. Or if the water withhold is for the duration of an hour.

Still very possible this could indeed be real abuse, but may be overblown, too. Need all the facts.

"The Dailymail has a more complete article."

Sigh. The DailyMail had a picture of the Amish couple. Still. They look like pretty normal folk. I wonder how true this stuff is, or if this another witch trial like the day care center witch trial in Massachusetts?

And this kind of cruelty is nationwide, not unique to socialist-minded ones in NJ.

just waiting for the media to blame this on “the military mind” of the father, or some such anti-military bias

No, this is going to be blamed on homeschooling. A busybody state assembly woman introduced the most restrictive homeschooling law in the country over this case. It disappeared, but is likely to reappear because the woman is now a busybody state senator who loves publicity.

“No, this is going to be blamed on homeschooling. A busybody state assembly woman introduced the most restrictive homeschooling law”

And if she wasn’t the hypocrite that I suspect she is, then she would have introduced bills to get rid of public schools due to the number of sex scandals involving pedophile public school teachers sexually abusing students - woman teachers as well as men. But, she never did that BECAUSE as I suspect she’s a hypocrite.
