Koch brothers want to make your newspaper their megaphone
L.A. Times ^ | 5/1/13 | David Horsey

Posted on 05/01/2013 9:02:18 AM PDT by Nachum

The people of Los Angeles would be up in arms if some out-of-town billionaires tried to buy the Dodgers and institute a rule that only right-handers could play on the team. Petitions would be signed, protests would be organized and politicians would rise up to condemn the sale. It would be nice if there were a similar outcry at the prospect of the Koch brothers buying the Los Angeles Times. After all, as exciting as it may be for a city to have a major league sports team, a good newspaper is a far more valuable asset.

Half of the staff would quit? I guess they’ll find out the hard way that the liberal media choir is overstuffed now and has a gargantuan waiting list. Naturally if they thought things through, they wouldn’t be leftists in the first place.

Newspapers are withering away all over the country. Right and left.
They may be billionaires now but it doesn’t seem like they want to stay that way.

The people of Los Angeles would be up in arms if some out-of-town billionaires tried to buy the Rams and move them out of town, leaving L.A. without an NFL team for more than a decade.

Oh, wait...

Obviously Horsey is quite comfortable with the current “balance of power” in the media world right now of 98% liberal, vs. 2% other-than-liberal.

Having the Koch brothers buy the L.A. Times would be akin to the tragedy of Jason Collins breaking a nail during his next NBA game.

Horsey’s cartoons are very well-drawn and sometimes very clever, but most of the time they are pretty heavy-handed in being pro-Democrat and anti-Republican/anti-conservative.

The Huffpo whining about a media entity selling out? That's rich.

Or... you could be a Bears' fan like me. Same difference.

Leftists are such incessant whiners.

They can't imagine that anybody else could do a better job than they at whatever it is that is being discussed.

I’d like Mr. Horsey to tell me the year in which the LA Times last endorsed
- a Republican
- who was running against a Democrat
- for statewide or national office

For that matter, I’d like to know when the Times last endorsed any Republican in any race other than one in a gerrymandered (by Democrats) Republican’s-gonna-win-no-matter-what sort of district. (See, the Times will tell you they endorse the occasional Republican, but it’s only in districts that are mortal locks for the GOP. As a result, the token opponents are often kooks.)

“I’m David Horsey, and I wrote this message!”

Underlying message, “I’m pi$$ing my pants over the prospect!”
