Well here’s an interesting post comparing average heights in 1912 and 2012.
If Americans are on average getting shorter, which I doubt, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if it was related to immigration.
I live in a neighborhood where there are a lot of Central Americans, and many of them are really short.

I have a nice set of dining chairs from around 1825. I can’t sit in them! They’re made for people who were much shorter.
I admit it. I grew up as a kid stimulated by my environment. beyond that, I’m taking the 5th.

If you go look at genuine medieval armor, it looks like it was made for a child, while the native American population were practically giants at 6 feet.
