With the frequency of flailing attacks left-wing Colorado Pols has been throwing out lately against the impending recall campaigns of Democratic Senators Hudak and Morse and Representative McLachlan, you might begin to wonder if they doth protest too much.
(Note to Michele Bachmann its not protestest too much)
It makes you wonder if some on the left have polled the issue and are beginning to worry that a low-turnout recall election is more than just a minor annoyance.
Should any of the petition drives succeed, a recall election would likely be very low turnout, which would favor the highly motivated voter something that gun rights supporters pretty much personify.
Of all the targets worrying about the recall drives, were betting Senate President John Morse is the one most concerned. There are a couple of reasons for this:
The threshold for signatures is the lowest in his district of all the recalls, as the threshold is 25% of the votes cast in the politicians last election. For Morse, that was the the low turnout, off-year of 2010. Morses Colorado Springs district is compact enough that gathering the signatures is considerably easier than, say, the rural Southwest Colorado district of Rep. Mike McLachlan. As Senate President, Morse has more responsibilities at the Capitol than other targets. That means the drainage of time and treasure that combating a recall campaign takes will do greater damage regardless of whether Morse survives. Should be interesting to see how much per diem Morse claims for the days hes playing politics to defend his seat.
At the outset of the recall campaigns, Colorado Pols and liberals wrote them off as hopeless exercises in futility.
With the amount of ink spilled on the recalls recently, it seems safe to say the left is starting to take the possibility of losing their Senate President before next session starts pretty seriously.
Successful recall(s) would send a powerful message .... might give the crapweasels in DC cause for concern when Dingy Harry resurrects the gun control bill.
I hopr they are sweating bullets!
Evil doesn’t stop because of voter recalls...Obamugabe will engineer voter fraud on a massive scale to stop any legitimate national election.
These small state races mean nothing if FedZilla consumes all governments.
I would guess not. They’ll get a job with the gov’t. under hickenblooper or obozo.
You could very well be right. I’ve heard rumours regarding Rhonda Fields and the Obozo Admin.
I stopped reading right there. Tells me the political orientation of the author.
Why the gratuitous swipe at her? She's not even in the story.
I don’t understand the swipe at Bachmann either, but Colorado Peak Politics is a conservative news site.
Revealing a nationwide problem in the RNC.
Josef Mengele was an early liberal.
I hope they’re eating bullets.
It really is. The left has got that base covered. We don’t need to add one thing...ever.
You're right. Many are being told that if they support Obama and have to take the electoral bullet because of it they will be taken care of.
The question they have to ask themselves is 'will he?'. Obama uses people and leaves their carcases under the bus.
Next expect dirty tricks, attempts to change the rules governing recalls, court challenges against the concept of a recall, court challenges against the Colorado state constitution, challenges to every single signature on the petition, personal attacks against those who signed the petition (including attempts to burn their houses down), attacks against the children of those who signed, etc.
Well, they just built up some street cred with their liberal pals at the cost of some conservative readers.
tar and feathers sends a better message
I hope they succeed. Send a message.
