WE are seeing now what the plan is for all gun owners. I only wish we could get all of these people together and have them make a stand.
Going after just the people whose families cared enough to get them psychiatric care is hardly where we need to be headed.

If the state of Arizona could not trump federal law pertaining to immigration, how and why can the state of Kalifornia trump federal law pertaining to gun ownership and/or possession?
I guess at face value it is a well intended idea....so is the road to hell...
I am sure getting guns out the hands of the mentally ill and felons will just make them buy them illegally.....

Lets define “Serious” mental illness, then progressively re-define that downward.
Have taken stress medication? Spoken to a grief counselor over a personal tragedy, taken meds for migraines; Or next ANYONE in your household with said issues?, then any friends or family who have had issues that may get your guns when your not looking...

Not more criminals. They just expand the definition of mental illness until everyone is covered. Next step will be if your GPA was not at least 3.8. You might still be OK but I wont be OK. :)
Why bother, they'll just use baseball bats, axes, knives, plastic bags, poison, fire, drowning etc to kill someone.

Firearms did not become available to a common criminal until 20th century. We have several thousand years of recorded history before that. Highway robbers just used farming implements to kill travelers. A mere stone tied to a stick is a formidable weapon if you have only your bare hands, or even a short knife, to defend yourself. Weaker or untrained people had no chance of survival.
If they can sell this in CA today, the campaign will start tomorrow to make it Federal law.

Remember all those tax bills that only "the RICH" would be effected by? After the bills passed, you found out you were suddenly RICH!
Once they can deny mentally ill people their 2nd amendment rights, suddenly a lot more people will be mentally ill. And guess who it will be?

The law says the CA DOJ can only charge a background check fee sufficient to cover the actual cost. For years they charged more and piled the excess into this account, which has now been raided for the gun confiscation program.
