Hamas Urges Children to 'Martyrdom'

JERUSALEM, Israel -- A leopard doesn't change its spots, nor does Hamas seem to waiver in its ideology.

While seeking reconciliation with Fatah to establish an independent Palestinian state living in peaceful coexistence with Israel, Hamas continues indoctrinating children from an early age to aspire to "martyrdom."

All this takes place while simultaneously petitioning the United States and European Union to remove its designation as a terror group.

The Middle East Research Institute (MEMRI) recently provided a translation of a children's television program aired on the al-Aksa network. It's not the first of its kind.

The program featured the grandchildren of the late Hamas MP Maryam Mohammad Yousif Farhat, known as Umm Nidal (the mother of Nidal), who made a name for herself by celebrating the deaths of her three sons during the second intifada (armed uprising).

On the program, one of her granddaughters speaks proudly of her father manufacturing the first Kassam rockets fired at Israel.

Another calls on the next generation to continue the struggle to liberate the al-Aksa Mosque (on the Temple Mount), sending them either "to victory or to paradise, Allah willing."

"Jihad ['holy' war] bestows pride and glory upon you when you become a seeker of martyrdom. Oh 'explosive device' of glory, with her blood she created freedom. Ask Fatima Najjar [a 70-year-old suicide bomber who blew herself up in November 2006] how one should live a life of pride," the children proclaimed.

The announcer, herself a child, says, "We should sacrifice our lives for the sake of the homeland so we can please Allah and liberate Palestine and Jerusalem."

"We should wage jihad and persevere to liberate this land," another youngster says. "When one of us is martyred, we say his life is precious; yet it is a cheap price to pay for the liberation and defense of the homeland."

Peace in the middle east only exists in a well-guarded geographic space that excludes these monsters. Peace in the middle east requires people of stout heart and quick trigger fingers to put them in the ground if they try to cross the fence.
