Duke University plans to raise its student fees in order pay for students' sex reassignment surgery.

Duke University recently made the decision to raise student fees in order add sex-reassignment surgery to their healthcare plan.

The private university, located in North Carolina, follows Brown and other universities in offering coverage for the controversial operation.

Administrators say they will cover the cost of the reassignment surgery up to $50,000 that will be covered with a cause a 0.3 percent increase to overall student fees.

LGBT advocates on campus immediately celebrated the university’s decision.

Okay...I thought we were told gays / lesbians were "born that way" and we should accept that...and that therapy to correct this way of thinking should be banned by law. Now we are told that people are apparently not born a certain gender and can have surgery to supposedly "change" it (even though clearly, they are either XY or XX, barring very rare genetic disorders, regardless of any physical surgery) and *not* accept the way they were born - and others should have to pay for this surgery as part of "health care."

Madness in so many ways...if you are clearly a man or clearly a woman but believe you are really the other "trapped" inside of another body, that is clearly a mental disorder, not a physical disorder...and now administrators of a major university believes it makes sense to create a policy including it as a "benefit" to students which would take away resources from legitimate healthcare needs?

So they’re forcing all students to subsidize this.

Betcha couldn’t get the surgery if you were a CONSERVATIVE student...but, then-if you were a conservative student, you’d keep your PERSONAL proclivities to yourself and carry on.

“Girls will be boys and boys will be girls....”
.03% of $50000= $150 extra tacked on the student fees. I would have better things to spend that kind of money on.

I know how you feel. It is like I told my father the other day, “Have I fallen into some sort of rabbit hole, what is happening in this World? Has everybody lost their minds?”

Sometimes you just have to go back to the basics.

Your feet are going to be on the ground.
Your head is there to move you around.

That's still true, right? I'm pretty sure that's still true.

Mutilating a healthy body will not cure mental illness.

Affirmatively participating in another person's delusion will also not cure mental illness.

Here’s a radical idea. Let the students choose whether to pay it or not. I guess the Dukettes who run things are afraid that there will be almost no takers. Wouldn’t want to seem intolerant so they have to force the unwilling.

Student groups are funded by student fee’s, and you can bet that its not based on membership. Tiny leftist groups are given a lot while any conservative or Christian group is lucky to be allowed on campus in many places, even if they have large memberships.

It’s not a good system.

Another university that has forgotten its purpose.

For me it isn’t a question of paying a few bucks more in fees. Its why would anyone pay anything to be “educated” by people who have completely lost the plot?

Read a book. Join the service. Hang out at Denny’s. You’ll get more education bang for your buck than you’ll ever get from these lost souls.

If you go back one hundred years ago...you went to a prestigious university....because they had the better professors, and you wanted to learn something. Football, sex-change surgery, and politics didn’t matter. We created a huge wave of individuals who came out and accomplished a great deal in life.

I don’t see that today. It’s mostly a four-year experience....not a four-year education. You mostly develop connections to help skip around jobs later in life. You get indoctrinated into a special degree of political thought. You get hooked onto the university sports scene, and spend $500 a year on tickets, t-shirts, and sweaters with big logo’s.
